I messed up my freshman and sophomore years, can I still get into a good college?

Being realistic, really good colleges look at students with good GPA's, ACT/SAT scores, extracurricular activities, etc. It really depends on what a "good" college is to you. A 2.9 followed with a 3.0 doesn't look so good, in my opinion. By the way, did you take honors/AP courses?

If you have, what is your weighted GPA? Okay, so you can try and fix this. This summer, buy an ACT prep book and thoroughly study the math, science, reading, and english sections.

Then take the real ACT sometime in September or October so you know where you are. If you get a 33+, well then that's great, I guess it can make up for your GPA freshman and sophomore year. Many colleges don't look at freshman year anyways.

It's good that you have done community service, and yes colleges will see that. I would recommend doing extracurricular activities or tryout for a sport. And next year, study study study.

Edit: Which ones are you taking? If it is AP Human or something, that's super easy and doesn't look that impressive. But anyways, study hard to get A's.

Colleges will be really impressed how you steadily improved over time.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
