Colleges are looking for upward trends. Start being proactive now. Join those clubs, find volunteering opportunities, look for internships.
Do stuff this summer! If you show that you are still an aggressive personality, although you "messed up," you can still get into a good school. Is there something you excel at?
Work on it! However, Ds and Cs are never pleasant. Are you taking the AP Euro test?
If you are, study hard! If not, try to make it up by taking a few other equivalent classes at a community college this summer and include it in your college application when you fill it out at the beginning of senior year, or find the alternative at your school and make up that grade over summer school. One C in your entire high school won't hurt you.
So try to make up that D. Sign up for those classes you think are manageable for junior year. It's okay to take less APs or less Honors next year even if your friends or classmates are loading up on 5 or 6.
Try to challenge yourself only if you know for sure you'll be rewarded with good knowledge. Take into account your aspirations. If you're going to become a doctor, I think, you wouldn't take AP Art.
In the end, if you don't do well, it's alright. Keep your options open. Simply because you graduate HS and go to a community college does not make you "dumb."
It saves money and gives you a second chance. I know several people who have transferred after two years at a community college to great schools (e.g. UCLA, UCSD). So, don't get too beat up over what can't be changed completely (plus there is SAT or ACT you have to worry about!
Do well on those and don't worry too much about these sophomore grades). Just put in your best effort and write the best college application essays during your senior year and you will be able to receive many options for your future.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
