I think a dog may be neglected or abused?

The only distinction I can make is the value of human life over a dog's life would ultimately be the deciding factor...You can be tried for murder for abusing a child to death, bur not a dog....but I still love my dogs, too!

I am equally appalled and fight against both with the same vigor. I am vehemently opposed and appalled by anyone picking on anything that is smaller or weaker and unable to defend against them. I also include elder abuse in this.

I do not think abuse can be separated that way. From my experiences, if someone will abuse an animal, they will also abuse a child and vice versa. Abuse is the systematic destruction of ones will and self esteem by repeated attacks, physical, verbal and emotional.

An abuser is a twisted individual that needs to be locked away from society. Period. I have seen very few hard core abusers reform.

They feel entitled in some way. ADD: I have gone back and read some of these responses and I must add something here. While I fight against both and I am a hard core animal lover, let's be real here.

If I see someone abusing a dog and at the exact same time someone harming a child, I will react to both, but I am going to get that child out of there first. Emilie, I am also surprised that some people do not value human life more than this. As I said, they equally appall me and one cannot really be separated from the other, right along with elder abuse.

All need to be stopped. At the same time, we have to have some reason and logic when it comes to this. I would hate to be put in that situation and I would hope if I was confronted with this, there would be enough people around so we could stop both.

And Launi: You probably gave my favorite response and echo my sentiments. I have always believed that those who abuse should be locked in a room, in a helpless state, and the ones they harmed turned loose on them, knowing they can do anything they want. Then toss the creep somewhere so the buzzards can get to him/her.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
