Catchweights are not illegal, it is part of boxing even before. As long as two opposing fighters agree on what weight should they fight, it is okay. Catchweights are made for two good fighters who are not in the same weight class and foreseen that could give the boxing public a better fight to watch while generating good profits for the promoters.
One fighter should go up in weight, giving away his speed in exchange of power while the other one must go down in weight, giving away his power in favor of speed. Pacquiao is just so blessed that he could retain his speed while accumates power.
No I did not lose respect. First of all, Manny is not even a welterweight or middleweight. So to do what he is doing is great.
They may have had a catchweight, but look at how much they weighed during fight time. Margarito was 167 to Manny's 148 or something like that. I think Manny weighed 17 pounds less, which is a lot!
People can say all they want about catchweights, but come fight time, that's the weight that matters! For Manny to beat down margarito like that, you have to give the man credit. Look at how he tore apart Cotto.
The middleweight title may have been at 154 and a catchweight of 150, but Manny didn't even make the catchweight and margarito was 13 pounds heavier then the weight limit. Manny can't even make welterweight! The guy to me is a lightweight!
So to beat up on bigger guys, how can anyone lose respect for that?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
