If we believe our society had only 3.5 years left in existence we shouldWork at extending our existence. Work on recording and preserving our history. It would be a great idea to record what we understand and send it out in many directions as time capsules in space.
Spend time enjoying our lives, but not at the expense of others. What would we do? It is hard to determine what a group would do, especially one as large as the world population.
What would I do? Work less, buy less, and spend a lot more time with my family, probably in the outdoors. Of course, the belief that the Mayans thought the world would end in 2012 is thought by many to be untrue.
There are a variety of possible reasons for the calendar end on that date but world destruction is least likely. I like the idea of a celebration instead. If the world is going to have a grand celebration on December 21st, 2012, what should we do with our remaining time?
If you honestly believe that the world is going to end then and you will not accept that nothing is going to happen on that date, I suggest that you do what ever you have wanted to do for your entire life but have never had the chance to. If it were me I go on vacation and try and visit as many different countries in as many different continents as I can. Also try to spend time to with family and friends, as you won't be seeing them anymore. In general try to experience the things that will make you the most happy.
If I only had 3.5 yrs to live what would I do with that time..... None of has expiration dates on us. Tomorrow could be our last day. So to say 3.5 yrs, I would do like I do everyday.
Take risks, be happy, live each day to the fullest, and remember that life is short anyways, and don't put off tomorrow what can be done today.
In an earlier answer on the Mayan calender, I gave the link to site where all of the existing threads on this topic seem to be listed - including the viewpoint saying the 2012 doomsday concept is not likely to occur. That being said, I believe that today and any day in our lives we should live fully in the moment, being present to ourselves and those around us. Most of us live in a state of preoccupation, with our minds in the future or in the past.
With such an attitude, we shortchange the present moment and, in effect, limit the possibilities we have to enjoy our lives and live them fully. Relevant quotes: God is always coming to you in the Sacrament of the Present Moment. Meet and receive m there with gratitude in that sacrament.
- Evelyn Underhill, author The ability to be in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness. - Abraham Maslow, psychologist.
Same thing you should be doing everyday anyway, live every day like its your last - have as much fun as you can, and be as nice to other people as you can.
Martin Luther was once asked what he would do if the world were to end tomorrow. S response: "I would plant a tree today. " He means that he would continue living his life in the same way.
Myself, I'd probably go along doing the same things as usual with one adjustment: I wouldn't buy Christmas gifts for Holiday 2012.
Knowing there is only going to be three and a half years left on Earth would be frightening. Would the police still do their job? Or would they travel too?
There would be a select few who keep their jobs, flying airplanes, enforcing the law. The majority of students would drop out of school, to find a better use of their time for the last few years on Earth. Then teachers would lose their job (if they didn't already quit).
Putting the mass chaos and poor economy and high unemployed rates aside, I would try to get some people to just build a space ship for us to live in for at least an extra 6 months. It would be a very exciting project, and once it is built, we would sail into space with a stockpile of food and games for 6 month of fun.
Apart from all the mayans prediction carried down the centuries believed or not we have got a hint of global warming and all those stuff. So try to save and protect our environment by joining hands with people, friends and foes , planting trees which would certainly do the needful to save the earth in future by being a shield . These kind of drives have been already started in many places .
People spend their free time by volunteering in such drives in which myself and my family also have been taking an active part. These really does wonders and for sure in course of time the earth would be a safer place again.
Well if we're going by the Mayans, probably autosacrifice.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
