I've enjoyed Wii Fit and have used it ever since release. I primarily use the strength training to balance out my treadmill runs in the morning. I haven't used the Yoga and have played some of the really fun games.
I've also used the balance board for other games (Shaun White Snowboarding and Skate It). I didn't get Active. Supposedly you don't need the balance board and the game comes with a resistance band and a arm/leg holster for the Wii-mote.
I've also heard reviews that it is more geared toward women. I haven't heard of either one "yelling" at you, although I get tired of some of the canned comments Wii Fit makes. If you're a guy, I would suggest Wii Fit and a girl EA Active.
Also realize that Wii Fit Plus will be releasing in Q3 2009 and looks like there is much more you can do and FINALLY a way to customize your workout.
I enjoy Wii Fit, and it's fun for my kids as well. I don't have EA Sports Active, but it looks very good. It is supposedly more "intense."
Reviews of EA Sports Active that I've read say that while you don't need the balance board to use it, to get full use of EA Sports Active, you should use the balance board. Since Wii Fit comes with the board, I'd lean more towards that if choosing between the two. It depends on your level of fitness starting out too.
If you're already pretty fit, Wii Fit might not be much of a challenge to you (although I have to say it makes you use some muscles you might not even know you have! ). I'll probably get EA Sports Active and use both for a bit of a change of pace and in different circumstances.
Regarding Wii Fit yelling at you or being mean, I don't find that to be the case at all unless one is particularly sensitive, although I do find myself talking back to it sometimes!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
