This is a good point. I have been active in Answers rather than pages. I did modify a few and one in particular wrote "How to Drink Beer".
Now no one can tell who wrote it. I don't see why the pages can't have credits just as a newspaper article does. It wouldn't cost Mahalo anything.
I can't say that I'm "offended" by the badges, but I was sorely miffed last spring when my goal of building some residual income for all my hard work was yanked away from me. I guess Mahalo can run this site however they want, and I still pop in from time to time to promote my own work from other sites. I would have loved the opportunity to keep writing for Mahalo but couldn't commit, at that time,to keeping regular hours to work for them.
Oh well, their loss. Plenty of other sites I can write for on my own schedule.
I am sorry to hear you are upset. Many of us were a bit upset in the spring when Mahalo made big changes. I believe it was because none of us like change.
We have a choice to stay or go and many of us have stuck around to see the super exciting new changes. Jason, as the owner, has a right to make changes when and if he needs to, to better the company, and I believe he has. I feel bad for the many Mahalo users that heard there was to be change and up and left.
They are missing out on super exciting things Mahalo has to offer. In fact, I am so excited about Mahalo, I just referred two new users. The badges are just another way to reward members. To me, it is like a bonus.
We do get $M for badges. We ALSO get M$ for best answer, just like in the past. They have filled the Mahalo store with even more exciting gift cards and prizes.
The gift cards come in handy for Christmas, gifts or if you really do not need it, sell it on Ebay for cash. You can easily sell a $50 gift card on Ebay for $45. Mahalo also has the Guru team and Guides. These positions pay money.
You just need to fill out an application. I realize you are disappointed, but as I mentioned we can either embrace change and help Jason improve Mahalo, or we can leave. Hope you decide to stay!
There are two issues here: 1) The loyalty badges are being slowly rolled out. Sorry we can't make it quicker. If you've been a member for a year, you will be getting the 1 year badge.2) We are working on a page Author/Contributor section on URL1 may still be a few months out because of some of the other major product that we are working on, but there are vocal people in the office and community asking for this, so it's on its way.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
