To many people now a days seem to have no sense of humor at all,and take themselves and everyone else way to seriously . Asked by Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago Similar questions: humor hereditary learned Health > Conditions & Diseases.
I think its something you develop from your life experiences - they help form you and you either develop a sense of humor to help you through the bad times, or you take things too seriously and become a grouchy, grumpy individual who kicks kittens and puppies, never smiles and is just a totally unpleasant person to be around. Except for the part about kittens and puppies, I just described my ex - the Wicked Witch of the East - and she was a thoroughly unpleasant person - couldn't handle my laughing everything off and having a light-hearted approach to life. Her face would have cracked if she had ever laughed or smiled.
So I take it it is learned. Thanks for the reply OH. Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago .
I think it maybe a combination of what we have learned is funny growing up and our temperment.
Maybe. Thanks for the reply. Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago .
Humour is something you are born with. I had a brother born under the sign of Libra and my mother used to say he was the happy child, always smiling, lighthearted. Yet I think what happens when we grow up also influences our character.
Too many burdens can cause anyone to take life too seriously. That's where "Meditation" is of great value. It takes us out of carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders and finding within ourselves a place to be at peace and feel harmonious with life.
Essential, in my opinion. Just a few thoughts.
And thanks for your thoughts. Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago .
I think it is a combination as well. We have a large extended family and everyone is different in the 'humor' department, a full range from literal to always joking. I also believe you have to be at peace with yourself to see humor where there is little.
Nicely said.Thanks. Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago .
I believe my siblings are definitive proof that humor is hereditary. My mom had no sense of humor, told one joke in her life (that I know of), and told that one badly. My dad was an inveterate punster. My parents divorced and I go to high school and eventually meet some friends and we start making puns.
Then my dad, who've I'd not seen for a while because I was mad at him for divorcing my mom, makes a pun with me and realized where I got it from. And my two brothers are the same way. Meanwhile, my three sisters NEVER make puns.
I won't say how else they're like our mom, 'cause them's fightin' words, but very clearly the girls' sense of humor is like mom's and the boys' sense of humor is like dad's.

I think it is a little of both. Some people just seem to have been born with a better appreciation of the humor in things; but it is also obvious that the character of the humor changes as the person grows and develops (or fails to develop) mentally and emotionally. I am also seeing a clear social trend that the character of "popular humor" changes as the culture matures and regresses.
When you look at what comedy shows are popular in different eras; you get a very clear picture of this.

Low Vit D3...I didn't laugh for many years...took Vit D3 and laughed for a whole week but it wore off...raise dose laughed again...lowered dose cried for no reason. I take 5000IU daily...I am in the middle of the range. Too high is not good, but it may help mood.
Endomorphins and other also help....low oxygen in the brain can cause depression due to Celiac...gluten/dairysoy/sugar can hurt many people. I think it can be learned but physical health affects it also.

I believe its a mix. Some genetic as the temperament, sense of humor, ability to see the lighter side of life. Some instilled by the parents while growing up and some by chosing the friends that laugh together.
That makes sense thanks Violet1. Squeeky-changes-suck 6 months ago .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
