Is it better to sell my used stuff on ebay or craigslist?

Both are acceptable, But Since it's going to cost money to list on eBay and nothing at all to list on CraigsList, I would go them first if you have the patience. Items tend to get lost on CraigsList since most people just browse the last few days posts in any given category. Unless they do a search for your specific item the chances are slim that it will be seen.

If you choose to try CraigsList first, I suggest selling to someone local as you would if you had placed an ad in your local newspaper. If you do choose to sell to someone who wants you to ship the item; I would require payment through a well established online resource such as PayPal. Postal money orders are nice as well since you have to run that package to the post office to send your buyer the item anyway.

The postal clerk checks to see that the money order is valid and pays you out right then. I have them take the cost of shipping the package out before receiving the money. EBay will typically net you more money on desirable items.Do a search for the item and see if it's selling well.

You may be surprised at the prices yard-sale items go for on ebay.com. You also have the option to "Clearly" state in the auction that you are reserving the right to sell the item locally and end the auction early to do so. I would be careful doing this because many eBayers are leery about bidding on items that have the potential of being ripped out from under them on the last day.

EBay allows you to cancel an auction up to 12 hours before auction close. You will still be charged the listing fees if there were bids against your item though. See eBay for more details about that though.

I hope this helps you some, Doug Pierce Sources: ebay. Com, craigslist.Com .

It just depends.... I'd say that by and large, though this isn't always true, you're going to get more money on eBAy, if for no other reason than you have more people bidding on it. I tend to use eBay to figure out what things are selling for there, and maybe charge about the average eBay price, which is a baragin for Craig's Listers because they don't have to pay shipping. But it depends on what type of thing.

Like if I got a new CD that I wanted to sell, let's say it's only a month or two old, well on Craig's List, no one's going to pay more than a few bucks for it, but on eBay you might get more than they sell it for a say Best Buy (because not everyone has Best Buy). The other thing is if it's collectible, or even just something that would be hard to buy somewhere away from a big city. I'll give a couple examples.

I once sold the movie "gh Art" on VHS for $63 on eBay because it was out of print. I also sold the first Goo Goo Dolls CD for $53. You're not going to get bidding wars like that on Craig's List.

On the other hand, my wife sells a lot of our son's old clothes on Craig's List, because she can list all these clothes she has, take pictures and can say $2 for each of these things $3 for each of these, etc. , and peopel will come ot th ehouse and pick what they want and pay for it, so it's not like you go to the trouble of putting it in a lot and hoping someone wants everything in it. For larger items, Craig's List is the way to go so you don't have to bother shipping it, because packing and shipping are a hasle. It's also apparent that the better your feedback, the more money you'll get for the very same item on eBay. My wife and I are fortunate to have 100% positive feedback and a few hundred ratings, but nonetheless, the hassle factor, the shipping and having to get packing materials and bring it to the post office, just all make it seem preferable probably 85% of the the time to sell via Craig's List.

I think the best strategy is to try to figure out what you'd probably get (or at least what you think you'd be likely to get based on the average selling price on eBay), and list it on Craig's List for about that price, maybe a bit more if it's something that would be very expensive to ship. Then if it doesn't sell there, drop the price a bit, or list it on eBay.

EBay vs Amazon! Which is the best place to sell your stuff?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
