Lie or die, which do you choose? Steal to eat or die, which do you choose?

To be a Liar and/or a Thief, so we can continue to live, eat and breathe etc.... that's what we choose. We're just not strong enough to make the right decision. I mean what kind of kind loving GOD would put us in such a situation in the first place?

The same one that asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. The same one that provided a different sacrifice for Abraham and spared his son. The same one that provided the Ultimate self sacrifice and spared us.

All sins being equal Even if I were a Christian - I would lie/steal to survive. I think this is where a great deal of people misunderstand the nature of sin. Sin is sin - there are no varying degrees.

Even if I was the strictest of adherents - I would still lie and steal if that were my only means of survival. You see - there is no "right decision" in those cases. To let yourself die is suicide and suicide is a sin.To steal is a sin as well.

Everyone - sins. It is in our nature and is built into our situations. We are unable to avoid sin.

It is a natural part of our very "souls". It is what is in the heart that shows the true merit of a person. A man may steal and with each bite beg forgiveness for the trespass.

The man may understand that stealing is wrong but the man also has a god given will to survive. For him to ignore this instinct - to ignore what his body and soul tell him.. and let himself starve - is just a simple form of suicide. I'm sure you already know this.

I am certain that the point isn't to show how unholy we are - just that we are sinners and that god forgives us. It is not up to us to martyr ourselves. Within the realm of the Christian religion - Jesus was the only Martyr needed.

All other Martyrs do so of their own accord. If I were an adherent - I would have to believe that God wants all of us to live full and happy lives and that the continue esteem for martyrdom of the kind you reference is man misunderstanding the Christ's sacrifice. He gave his life for the many.

Letting yourself starve to death isn't martyrdom. Jumping on a grenade to save your fellow solders is. The sacrifice must cause benefit.

Life is a precious thing and the onyl reason to sacrifice life is to save more lives. ---- now for the atheist bit. I woudl definitely lie and steal to survive.

Lie to live, steal to eat. Though I am a man of great honesty both intellectually and socially....I would have no problem doing anything to secure my family. I would not like the choices, I would even think them wrong, but you better believe nothing would stop me from feeding kids or making sure others could eat.

They are only laws, it is the heart that is judged. That is as honest as I can be. I would like to say I would sit and pray and wait for manna from heaven, but I am a man of action.

I believe you have to go get it, waiting can get you dead in extreme circumstances. And extreme circumstances...ie a fallen country/society... would be the only thing to push me to crime.

I would not lie or steal to live I left a job once because of their dishonesty, wanted me to lie as well. I got up and walked out. Not that I haven’t lied in the past - everyone does to a certain degree - it is human nature, unfortunately.

But I strive to do my best, and I refuse to live daily on lies. When I was young, I stoled something ONCE! The guilt was overwhelming.

I determined not to be a bad person. To live with morals, ethics and character. I have had more than my share of misfortune.

But it is the decisions we make and who we turn to for help determine who were are and what we will be. I will not steal to live. There are too many Churches and other organizations out there to help.

I am not perfect. I struggle daily to be a good person and a good Christian. There is a lot of bad in the world, but with diligence and prayer, we can overcome!.

I've never really understood that about Christians. Why aren't they in more of a rush to die? .

It depends on the situation in which I am asked to kill, lie, or steal. Where am I? If it's Nazi Germany, and I need to lie like Corrie Ten Boom to save innocent Jewish people from extermination... I'll lie.

Look at Exodus 1... Shiphrah and Puah are blessed by God for lying to Pharoah. Lying to a man, to save the live of the innocent, is virtuous. Here's the rub: When dragged before the authorities and put on trial for lying, can you complain that it is unfair, and unjust and that you deserve your freedom?

No. To break the law is to put yourself under judgment. When God's law and man's law conflict... we should boldly follow the law of God... and expect the law of man to bring punishment on us.

Would I steal to feed my children? If there were no other option... maybe.But... I would expect to be punished if I were caught... and I would admit my guilt and repay when possible. Would I kill to protect my children?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
