My cat poops all around the litter box but not in it?

My cat poops all around the litter box but not in it He is an 8-year old male neutered cat. He's a rescue, and may have been abused... my other, younger cat seems to be the Alpha kitty, could he be hogging/marking the litterbox and keeping Destructo-Zynx from using it? Has he been checked for a urinary infection that can be 1 reason. Also cats can be picky about their litter , you might try a different brand, but not the scented kind, it may smell nice to us, but to a cats super sensitive nose it can be overwhelming. Keep the box clean, some cats will not use a soiled box.

Make sure its in a private location but still gets good air circulation.

Oh jeez. I am now, as of today, at two OmegaPaw 'self-cleaning' cat boxes, using the World's Best Cat Litter- it clumps without any toxic stuff in it! Expensive, but I think worth it.

I'd never use any scented or chemical-laden clumping litter. I love my boys too much! Hopefully these things will help.

My cats wouldn't use the Worlds Best Litter, I was so bummed, maybe you cat doesn't like it either. Try an old fashioned box and something like arm and hammer clumping litter with baking soda ( no scent). He may not like the self cleaning box either, go back to the basics and see what happens.

Feline Pine might be an option too .

Its good that you got another litter, box, basic rule of thumb, 1 box per cat, plus 1 extra, some cats won't share, I have 3 cats, and they each prefer their own box, but will share if one is being washed.

Yea most animals will get use to being the only animal in the house will start marking territory this is mine not yours so will go to any lenghtes to protect what is theirs try getting another litter box for destructo-zynx to see if things change.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
