My make cat is peeing RIGHT outside the litter box. He poops in it and pees outside of it... How do I remedy this? I have had my cats for URL1 male is 5yrs old and my female is 9yrs old.

First, they had one litter box (with a lid) and that was working fine, until I saw my male cat in the litter box, but aiming outside of the litter box. Then, I got another litter box - a bigger one. That didn't help.

He still prefers to go outside of the litter box. He pees outside of the litter box no matter if the box is clean or not. He usually pees to the right of the litter box.

I have old towels that I use under the litter box and I am constantly washing them with soap and bleach. I am SO frustrated, I don't know what to do! I have tried separating the litter boxes and nothing seems to work!

I have 6 cats and SPIKE one of my males, hes HUGE and he does this, not all the time...but for quite a while.....we finally go so frustrated....We have 7 cat boxes and one of the 6 is the biggest they make.....I actually found a tub, that had really low sides..that is twice the size of our biggest box...and we put a 55 Gallon trash bag in it BEFORE we put the litter in...this solved the issue. However YOUR cat is ppoping in the box.....so he obviously trying to tell you something...if hes peeing up the wall or outside of the box like that..it may be a UTI, male cats are notorious for UTI's.......if this has been going on for a year..I am surprised you haven't taken him to the vet.......it may be something health wise...or it could be behavioral. My eldest female when she was about 10, she developed the behavior to poop & pee on every piece of furniiture & my bed.....You don;'t think I wanted to toss her out?

There would be no way my cats are like my family.....just because they have "issues" I am not going to throw them away! Her's was NOT a health issue, but a behavior proble...cats have them all the time....the VET prescribed 5 mg of PROZAC a day....boy this solved the problem.....within 3 months...and shes been fine ever since shes 16 now.....your vet needs to see your cat. Please DON'T be like my EX-BESTFRIEND...when I moved out of our apratment, I took our female with me...she kept the other cat(male) he was not even 3 years old.....because he had a UTI, and was doing this..and she was too cheap to take him to the vet....she had HIM put down!

Your cat isn't trying to be spiteful. It thinks because it's near it's litter box, all is well. My dog, after I've opened the yard door will not step out and llifts his leg directed toward the outside, but it comes inside.

I can't stop him. Another one thinks since we go the bathroom, he can do his business there too.. I know it's frustrating, but they believe they are doing the right thing. Try putting a wee wee pad underneathe it's litter box.

Maybe that will help. When he pees, it will not go on the floor. Try and see what happens.

1 My cat does the opposite. He poops beside the box. So I built a topless plastic enclosure out of Sterlite storage tubs and now he poops on the plastic and I just scoop it up.

Peeing is more problematic but if the cat is peeing outside the box, at least it would be on plastic and not your carpet.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
