My hot water won't turn off in my bathtub. I have three nobs- one for hot, cold and to turn on the shower. I've been turning it really hard the last couple of days, but today it won't budge.

It sounds like it is time to replace the knob and the gaskets in the faucet. The hot water does cause more corrosion than does the cold and in time you will need to replace both the knob and the gasket for the faucet. You can do it yourself if you go and get the tool for the gasket and buy a new knob at Home Depot or one of the other hardware stores.
While you are there just ask for instructions on replacing what you need too. Also it would hurt to lube it up with a good oil lube.
Needs a little attention. It needs to be fixed. The hot water faucet tends to get a bit rusty inside due to the hot water.
Either call a plumber, or fix it yourself. To do it yourself: (1) turn off the water supply. If there is an access panel behind the faucets, open that up and see if there is a shutoff valve on the hot water line.
Better houses have them there. Now THAT faucet might be very stiff or stuck or leaky too! In that case you have to shut off the water somewhere upstream, quite possibly back at the water heater or maybe even have to go to the water meter.
Now THOSE valves may be stiff or stuck or leaky too! You can't win. A prudent person would like every Haloween go around the house and exercise all the valves to make sure they still move and don't leak around the stem.
If a valve leaks around the stem, don't worry too much, you can almost always tighten up the nut around the stem and that will stop the leak. If it still leaks, you need a new seal around the stem. That's life.
Anyway, after you turn off the water. Open the valve so the pipe drains. Then use a screwdriver and remove the valve handle.
Then use a wrench and remove the valve nut. Then put the handle back on and unscrew the valve. Take the rubber seals off the valve stem and look over the stem.
If it's not too badly corroded you can take some sandpaper and polish off all the corrosion and rust and mineral crud. Do it until the stem is all nice and smooth and shiny. Take a wire brush and use it to clean out all the places the sandpaper can't reach, like the stem and nut threads.
Then if the valve seals look nice, and not all cruddy and pitted and/or torn, put them back on the stem. To do it really right, go to your local hardware store with the valve stem and seals and get new seals and maybe a new valve stem if it's really corroded and pitted. Also buy a small tube of plumber's silicone grease and put generous amounts of that on the stem seals so they'll last longer.
Put the seals back in place, screw in the valve stem, and screw on the valve nut, tightening it a bit, just so the valve stem takes a little bit of effort to turn. Try turning on the water and make sure nothing is leaking where it shouldnt be.
1 You need a new 'washer' ...For the moment you should be able to turn off the hot water somewhere else along the 'feeder line' to the tub... There may be a panel in the wall behind the tub (if there is a wall) which you can pry open and then feel for which one is hot and turn it off there... Then replace the washer... Or, get someone like a plumber to do it...Allowing the hot water to continue to run will get fairly expensive fairly quickly...Best of Luck...

2 Yes, I turned the water off right away. I ended up going to my neighborhood hardware store and the guy told me to take it out and bring it in. I had to buy a whole new stem because the sort of faucet I had wasn't something that came apart.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
