Allesgrandma! I answered one of your questions before, welcome back! I do know of a product called NO!
It comes in a spray can and is called "NO" or possibly a variety of other names, too. It’s purpose is to keep your cat (or dog) from urinating on certain objects or especially OFF certain objects or places. I have used it with great success around large ceramic plant containers and on the wall in the litter box room, and it has worked exactly as advertised.
The cats do not go on the places that I have sprayed with that product. That’s an opposite tactic to the one you’re going to try, but at about $5.00 for a can it’s a whole lot less expensive, and for my cats, it works like a charm. Dogs, too, as I said before, do not go on any object I have sprayed with NO!
I know there is an indoor NO and an outdoor NO, but I’ve used the same Indoor NO on the outside of the house and it’s just as effective there as it is inside. I’m especially pleased, as you can imagine, that spraying the ceramic plant containers does not bother any plants at all, and I’ve got countless large potted exotic plants, both in the house and in the yard. The product INDOOR NO is from Hartz, and I haven’t had to buy a can for more than a year or even two, so I would emphasize that the name may have changed. It’s great to keep outside animals from going on any object in your yard, too, if they happen to wander in and decide to mark your kitty’s territory.
One different reason your cat may be not using the litter box is that your kitty may have a problem with her urinary tract and is trying to tell you so by purposefully not using the usual litter box. I found that to be the case with two separate cats--they were given medication, and a pH balanced food, and that had them back to normal in just one day. Just spray around the box, and your kitty should go inside it.
That was my experience with training new kittens as well as directing a more mature cat that just decided to change her habits, and decided to change back to using the litter box properly when "NO" was the only other option! One more thing: some cats become particular finicky about a very clean litter box as they mature. I have had that problem too--one cat will sit there and watch me put a bit of clean litter over the already clean litter before she’ll go every now and then.
Now that one is a real manipulator! That "NO" solved a lot of problems for me; I hope that it works out as well for you. Lots of luck!
