Interesting Question voting is a great idea, it is the most pure way to promote quality. I like it as a way to move the most interesting questions to the front page. However it can be susceptible to some gaming tactics, but I trust the Mahalo community, we are a good bunch of folks!
:).
I don't think this will help me. I don't want to know what other folks find interesting. In fact, those might be good questions to avoid.
I want to know which questions I will probably find interesting. That might be done by letting folks pick a number of subjects to appear on their main page, rather like Google news.
It will be interesting to see how it evolves. I'd like to see questions with high "interesting" ratings be a lively source to see multiple points of view, delivered in the civil "Mahalo" style! Thanks for the efforts to continually improve Answers.
I like the fact that we can view the questions by how "interesting" it might be. When it comes time to make the default view by this am I safe in assuming it would be for the individual sections? While the main page of MA would continue to be sorted by most recent as default?
Interesting questions are good, yet sometimes questions are interesting, yet not everyone has an interest in this category. Interesting questions should be combined with votes and views. Every 10 views, the question automatically gets a point for interesting or something like that.
It shouldn't matter if find their question uninteresting, they need our help with an answer. My suggestion would be leave the "Interesting vote" as is, but remove the option to vote questions as "uninteresting" -2 cents.
This MAY help, especially in the realm of "over-frequent" askers (I think I've seen one or two). But "views" alone might be deceptive... a person has to at least open the question to find out whether it's "interesting," no? I've also noticed that, some questions are "out of league" in the sense that, if I select for example, "Technology & Internet", I miss many questions that are "interesting" in the realm of "Technology & Internet", so the sort may be misleading.
You have a daunting task before you. Good idea: I wish you the VERY BEST of luck! (I say this after just having returned from a page-through of the ENTIRE list of questions, looking for any to answer, just for the heck of it...you might guess, I'm not in it for the money.).
I like-it just the way it is right now, thank you very much. ( Waiting for those "sticky questions". ).
Thanks for adding yet another new feature! This will help us choose which questions to look at further without having to open each one to see the full description. In other words it will help prevent misleading question headings (not that I have seen many, but it is good to plan ahead).
This is really clever. I wouldn't have thought of it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
