We have a license for fishing. Shouldn't we have a license for having children?

Yes, a licence should be required. And it shouldn't be a whimpy license like most US state fishing licenses, it should be substantial like the German fishing license. Also, prospective parents should have to post bond or have insurance to cover the cost of the child should things go wrong for them (losing job, etc., divorcing...) or the child turn out to be an expense to society (such as a criminal).

I have often ask this myself. We do also have licences for DOGS! I am all for it.

There are so many irresponsible, bad parents. They yell and scream at kids that don't know any better. They don't discipline their children so they reak havoc on others.

They don't know how to act as adults and parents, then become role models for their children, so the cycle continues. The one reason to oppose licences is, having children is a natural basic right. When should the government decide if you are good enough to have children?

That sounds a lot like non medical sterilization. What would be the requirements, IQ/education, annual pay/resources, certain personality traits, family history, medical history, ,age, strength and longevity of patience :) ...etc? Unfortunatley those who don't want children won't have them. Those who do want children, will have them anyways.

I think at the VERY least ALL parents should go through and pass a course. If they don't, they get fined. In this way we can at least weed out those who aren't smart enough :). This course should not cost a lot of money, as it would be additional to child care and child rearing.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
