Well, good question. I have hot water baseboard heat, also. I used to turn it down when I left for work, and then turn it up when I got home.It never seemed to make any difference.

I do not think it is going to make a really noticable difference in temp. By leaving it off for two days.It is going to be hot in about a half hour when you turn it on. You really don't have any control over the temperature.

It all depends on what the building boiler is set on.

If you're wondering if it's bad to have the furnace cranking heat one day and not being used the next two days, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you get it cleaned out once a year and have it checked at that time. The furnace has been designed to work like that. On, off, on, off.

Thank you, this will help me in my quest to be warm. My husband insists we cannot turn on heat until at least the middle of October becasue it will hurt the system. I'm in MN and the temp change in this state is drastic!

Ha! That's like people who don't want to shut the car off if they just have to run inside and do something. It doesn't hurt the car, and in your case, when it's winter, the furnace will be turning itself on and off all day!
