A car trip. Yes, voluntarily confining yourself to a contained space with your kids for hours ... days, even. There will be spilled drinks, crying, fighting and at least one shower of cold french fries.1.Do a little prep work Most libraries allow you to download books for free off their Web sites.
Fill your iPod with kids' audiobooks, an imaginative way to pass the hours that, unlike DVDs, the driver can enjoy too. Head to a dollar store to pick up lots of small, wacky gifts, then wrap them up. Dole them out as needed to circumvent whining.
To get everyone in the mood, watch (or rewatch) the animated flick "Cars" before you go (or view it on the road, if you have a DVD player in the car).2. Invite them to document the journey Give your kids disposable cameras and ask them to take photos of whatever catches their eye, then invent stories about the places or people. Also, keep a journal, with everyone adding entries as you go: thoughts, drawings, postcards, ticket stubs, even that pretty flower your daughter picked on the side of the road 3.
Get out and stretch Take advantage of rest areas — and not just when someone needs a bathroom break. Bring a ball or Frisbee along to expend some energy. Many state rest areas have free coloring books and pamphlets for kids.4.
Be curious When you stop at a gas station, ask people about the closest place to grab a good bite. Then trust them! 5. Make up a story As a child one of my favourite family travel games was to create a story together.
Dad would start the first sentence, then mom, myself and my brother would add to it. Each of us would take a turn adding a sentence as the story unfolded.6. Another favorite road trip car game was "I'm going on a trip and I'm bringing..." Here someone starts the game off by naming an item that starts with the letter "A".After.
If they see a yellow car they call out tweety , ask them what the clouds are shaped like (a duck or whatever they pitcher it as, a portable dvd player , color book, haqve them look out for wild life.
1. A great way to make the trip fun is to have them bring there gameboy, or psp whatever handheld they have. If your going on a really long trip maybe buy them a new game that they want.2.
Reading, my parents always made me read for a half hour before doing what I wanted to do. 3. Bring some DVDs, maybe a new movie they havn't seen before.4.
Play road games such as finding all the letters in the alphebet on signs begging with A and working your way up to Z, or counting how many trucks or bugs you drive by.5. Pump the music, they might sing along a little but they will get bored of that fast, but it will help you stay awake on a long trip. Ahh I forgot to add taking a nap, depending on the time you leave they might be very tired, bring a pillow and blanket and have a rest.
1. Audio books are a great way to entertain the kids on those long trips (audible.com) 2. DVDs: either on the cars built in DVD player (if yours has one) or on your computer (watch out, if the computer battery dies before the end of the movie, your in trouble.) 3.
Books are always a great way to entertain the kids. However, don't make this your only source of entertainment as kids may get bored.4. If the kids have their own laptops and you are going through relatively populated areas or most highways, buying a Verizon Mi-Fi might be a good idea.
It allows you to convert cell signal into Wi-Fi that can be accessed by up to 5 computers (verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller...) 5. A family game like Eye-Spy is a great way to keep everyone happy. However, the kids will get bored of this game so don't use this as your only option.
The best thing I have found, it works on me too by the way. I found Rest stops are the best way to keep children from getting restless. Getting out an stretching is the best.
Secondly, A movie. It won't work that well but it will keep them busy for at least 30 minutes. I did not list them because there were only two.
Stop every once in a while to play a game of tag or a race, let them run around. -bring electronics, video games, cd players, dvd player -talk about something silly or embarrissing, it will make them laugh and bring a bond. -play a game with the signs or the cars -dont stress or get frustrated when you get lost.
Don't worry just look at it like a new adventure, kids don't like being scared when you are mad from getting lost. Just relax.
1. Pack plenty of their favorite drinks 2. Pack plenty of snacks 3.
Pack things like paper, pencils, markers, crayons, paper, coloring books, puzzle books, etc. 4. Pack music players and headphones 5. Have a dvd player and dvd's.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
