My son is 18 months old and we are raising him speaking both Spanish and English. We have some good stories in Spanish for infants (e.g. , Buenas Noches Gorilla, Buenas Noches Luna) but would like to start reading him stories more appropriate for toddlers. We can find a few English language stories that are translated into Spanish, but would also like some authentic Spanish language stories.

You know, I asked my Mom and... I asked her if she could think of any famous Spanish children's stories and she couldn't come up with any. Of course, that was a long time ago... I'm a little surprised, but she couldn't think of any that weren't translated from somewhere else, like Hans Christian Anderson stories. The only ones I remember her reading us were things like Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.
I know we had some Disney books in Spanish, but they were things like Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc. In other words, not of Latin origin. Hmm...Anyway, good for you for teaching your kids both Spanish and English. You're really going to help them in the long run.
Here are some suggestions that I found that should be helpful. Notice the contents of the first one and correlate that with my Mom's experience:Cuentos clasicos infantiles (Paperback)by Varios (Author)List Price: $9.90Price: $9.90 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25http://www.amazon.com/Cuentos-clasicos-infantiles-Varios/dp/9687748168/Cuentos para Ninos (Paperback)List Price: $3.95Price: $3.95 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25http://www.amazon.com/Cuentos-para-Ninos/dp/9706272186/Coleccion de Cuentos Infantiles Girasol (Hardcover)List Price: $4 may8Price: $4 may8 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25http://www.amazon.com/Coleccion-de-Cuentos-Infantiles-Girasol/dp/1580450466/I think this one might be an especially good choice:Cuentos que contaban nuestras abuelas (Tales Our Abuelitas Told): Cuentos populares spánicos (Paperback)by Alma Flor Ada (Author), F. Amazon has quite a selection of English/Spanish books available. The first set of titles that I have bought for my children, who spoke only English and now speak both, are 'My Clothes/Mi Ropa', 'Oso polar, oso polar, que es ese ruido', 'Es Tu Mama Una Llama', 'When I am/ Cuando estoy', 'My family and I/Mi familia y yo', 'Lupe Lupita, Where Are You? /Lupe Lupita, ¿dónde estás?', 'Margaret and Margarita / Margarita y Margaret'You can find many more titles on Amazon by typing: 'Spanish/English children's books' in the search field.

Scholastic has produced quality books for children since 1925, and they are constantly expanding Spanish language texts. No, I don't work for Scholastic, but I have had my nose buried in their books for the last 40 years. A great many of them were $.05 or $.10 when they were first purchased.
While my library of Scholastic titles may cover some 50-65 years, the quality of today’s books is even better. We were very pleased with our book clubs over the years. Time-Life may also be offering titles you’d find appropriate for your family.
Just remember, when a child loves books, there is no door closed to them. All the wonders and mysteries of the world are theirs for the taking. If knowledge is power, books are the fuel for that power.
Children who love books and to read do better in school, the more education a person obtains the greater their earning potential, and all the while it keeps the brain and the sprit healthy. I thought it was just common sense, turns out-studies prove it! So here’s to all the parents who invest in their children by investing in books!
Way to go! Sources: scholastic.com/www.troll.com/www.weeklyr... .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
