What are the conservatives' alternative to food stamps and welfare if there are no jobs being created?

The truth is, they are victims of a vicious, destructive system that keeps people in a position where they are dependent on the government for everything. Our welfare system has spawned an entire subsection of people who, for three -four generations have not had any exposure to the ideas of self-reliance and self responsibility, leading to an entitlement mentality. Welfare reform must take place to liberate these people from the slavery of dependence.

I was on welfare for two years, so I know a little about what I am talking. But, unlike so many who are mired in that mess, I had a plan. While my family was on welfare I went back to school to learn electronics.

I worked full time in the summer to pay the tuition. I graduated and got a job and got off welfare. That is the kind of welfare system we need.

One that temporarily pays for housing and food and health insurance while the person is provided an opportunity to go to school and learn a trade. Welfare should be limited to 4 years lifetime benefit.

You need to make your argument a little better. You should say- WHAT ABOUT CORPORATE GREED? Welfare for the Rich in the form of Tax loop holes, OIL SUBSIDIES , FARM AIDE etc. These are ALL forms of WELFARE!

Nobody talks about it because they want to pick on the little guy whose is weak and down - living in caves and can't defend himself! Poor people have No voice in Washington and no big lobbyists that is why it is easy to pick on the poor! But I get you and you are right!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
