I tend to feel the same way you do, that in some cases there is a very fine line between a habit and an addiction. However, I think your dessert at night was more of a ritual than a habit or addiction. The definitions are as follows: *Habit (psychology) - an acquired pattern of behavior that often occurs automatically *Addiction - Addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease.
Brain imaging shows that addiction severely alters brain areas critical to decision-making, learning and memory, and behavior control, which may help to explain the compulsive and destructive behaviors of addiction. I think the thing here to note is that, the addiction is often something we cannot control. If you feel the need to have something you're addicted to (drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc...) and you don't get it, you can become destructive, either hurting yourself or someone else (mentally, physically, emotionally).
When someone is addicted, they will do everything in their power to get and obtain whatever it is they are addicted to. A habit, is just an automatic response to have been doing something for so long, you just seem to do it that way all the time (i like to call it robot mode). For example, I almost always put my right shoe on first.
Just out of habit. Now would I become upset if I didn't do it that way? Not at all.
But becoming upset about that would more be a result of OCD and not of addiction. Hope this helps, or gives you another perspective!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
