What is the smartest breed of horse?

LOL...As a horse lover, we'd all like to claim our fav breed, I'm sure Like humans, horses differ in intelligence, thus saying a Quarter Horse is smarter than a Morgan or whatever isn't always correct. That said, of course, my Quarter Horse Dandy is the smartest horse ever! Well, okay, one of the smartest?

Okay, how about smart? Sometimes? Seriously, some breeds do seem quicker, tho', as noted, it varies.

Heck, ponies, often misunderstood or ignored cos of their size have proven quick studies and are often stand-out performers, hence showing their intelligence. I've recently become acquainted with some Icelandic horses here in Alaska and have been impressed with their intelligence. They come from tough territory, hence they've had to be smart and adaptable to survive and thrive.

I admire their calm disposition, too, and ability to be far smarter than some of their riders. Lipazzan horses are surely among some of the most intelligent. They master intricate maneuvers and remain calm under the pressure of warfare and performing world wide, showing their ability to adapt, too.

Their ability to excel in some of the intricate dressage level "dances" show intelligence and self-disciplne, surely an element of intelligence? Kinda scrolling down the list, I note the Lusitano, too. In my mind they sorta merge into Lipazzaners for some reason, but are also said to be intelligent and quick to pick up skills.

Halflinger's are beautiful, versatile animals, too. If you consider the ability to do it all as a sign of intelligence, they have to rank right up there, too, as do Morgan Horses. I once had a part Morgan and they were intelligent and quick to pick up on things. My QH exhibits the same traits, but does seem to have more instinct for what they were bred for, working cattle and trails than doing fancy tricks.

Of course, while not a breed, Palomino's are often showcased in movies and shows, getting a chance to show of their intelligence and beauty, no matter what breed they happen to be. Roy Rogers Trigger was an early "love affair" for me, horse nut that I was, so I'll always have a soft spot for those Palominos! Sources: www.gopetsamerica.com/horse/breeds.aspx .

Intelligence is subjective Discounting the fact that objectively measuring intelligence is akin to a religious debate... Some digging turned up Arabians and Palominos as likely candidates with Lipizzans thrown in as a last ditch. While I couldn’t find anything supporting this - I’d say Mustangs might be pretty high up on the list as well. Or - you could take the human approach and say "all horses are equal - this is a ’racist’ question" :) Some reading: The Arabian Horse Jim Key that came up in almost all "smartest horse" searches on Google: exhibits.slpl.org/lpe/data/lpe240023588.... What would be the best breed of horse to get for someone who wants to do some "nice and easy" horseback riding.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
