What's the best gentle form of caffeine to wake you up in the mornings if you can't stand coffee?

I'm one of those people who can only handle coffee occasionally and never in the mornings because its too acidic. However, I'm having to get up earlier in the mornings than I have been recently and find myself in need of a little caffeine. I'm reluctant to start my day with something as high in caffeine and sugar as an energy drink (which very well might end up making me crash around 10am), but I need something.

What is there that has a decent amount of caffeine without being a major overload that's gentler than coffee? Asked by ohnoes!21 months ago Similar questions: gentle form caffeine wake mornings stand coffee Food & Drink > Food.

I love the 'smell' of coffee but hate the taste... Seeing I wake up semi comatose...I stagger to the fridge and grab a Diet Coke WITH caffeine. Within minutes, I come alive and tackle the day full of pep. BUT...I can only drink one.

A second one makes me too jittery. Sooo, to maintain some energy all day, I switch over to home made iced tea. It must have less caffeine.

Thing is..I have to knock off all caffeine around 4pm...or I'm still on a roll at midnight...LOL My hubby came up with an iced tea recipe that is fantastic... A one gallon jug 3 Liptons big tea bags 3 quarts of water 1 quart of apple juice 4 oz. Raspberry syrup Steep the tea bags in cold water for a couple of hours and remove...add apple juice & raspberry...chill. It's naturally sweet and very low calorie...ahhhhh...refreshing.

Tea or Chai is a good alternative I'm a big fan of tea. It has a little less caffiene than coffee, plus it has a lot of other heath benefits with all those antioxidants. Here is a great chart from Stash tea that shows you how much caffiene the different types of tea (black, green, etc) have as compared to coffee and soda: stashtea.com/caffeine+and+tea.aspx If you like a creamier drink, I recommend Chai - especially Chai Latte with milk or soy milk.

This is basically a spiced up black tea with honey and steamed milk. Starbucks and many cafes make it. The caffiene content will be similar to a regular black tea.

Here is another great resource on the Mayo Clinic web site. If you click the tabs, each gives an overview of caffiene content in different brands of coffee, tea, iced tea, soft drinks, energy drinks, chocolate, etc: mayoclinic.com/health/caffeine/an01211 A square of dark chocolate might be a great way to start the day too! .

Green tea or homemade hot chocolate both have it and have antioxidants too.

I'd recommend tea; tea is a lot lower in caffeine than coffee. Here's a page discussing how much caffeine is in different types of tea, in case you're interested:ratetea.net/topic/caffeine-content-of-te... types of tea would be gentle in flavor? One type of tea that is highly caffeinated but very mild in flavor is Silver Needle white tea.It can be expensive though:ratetea.net/style/silver-needle/26/A white tea that is less expensive, also very mild, and very low in caffeine is called Shou Mei:ratetea.net/style/shou-mei/24/Green teas can be pretty diverse.

You might want to look at some Japanese green teas, like Genmaicha (a tea with toasted rice), Hojicha (very low in caffeine, and roasted like coffee, but mellower than coffee), or Bancha (a mild and inexpensive Japanese green tea). I'd recommend drinking your tea unsweetened. It's a little bitter, but you can get used to it. Sugar can perk you up but then cause you to crash; drinking unsweetened tea will lead to a more level boost.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
