When they say to tip the housekeeper "1 week's pay" for the holidays, does that apply to both FT and PT employees?

I always hear "etiquette experts" or "tipping guides" recommending a week's pay as a holiday tip for house cleaners. However, I assume that really applies to people who are working for you full-time... What about the cleaner who only comes once a week? Do I need to give them double pay for Christmas week?

Instead of just following the "experts", I would like to know what "real people" (you know, normal budget-minded people like all of us who are cash-strapped for the holidays) really do...Thanks! Well, it's debatable about whether the person is really your employee... If they only come to your house once a week. Are you the only person whose house they clean? Probably not; if that's the case, the housecleaner is more like an independent business.

I think that's a little different than having an actual employee who works just for you, and the rules of what to give are probably different. In this case, I don't know that I'd give them a full week's pay. But I would definitely give them some kind of a gift; it doesn't have to be monetary (a gift card, a bottle of wine, that kind of thing.) But if you're dedicated to giving cash, I'd probably give half of the week's rate, depending upon what they charge you (certainly no less than $20.

I always have Full-time or part-time, it's a nice thing to do at Christmas if you can afford it. If you cannot afford an extra week's pay bonus, a tin of home-made candies, fudge, pralines, or something like that is still a very nice thought.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
