Where can I get help with clutter in my home.. I got a garage that I can't get into let alone a car... I'd like Neicy from the TV show "Clean House" to come over to my house. But, since that's not possible, what can I do? Asked by DuhTeacher 52 months ago Similar questions: help clutter home garage car Uncategorized.

You can use a service like 1 800 got junk I have used a similar service where they will come out and quote you a price to take away your stuff. It can be a little pricey depending on how much stuff you have to haul away but it does give you some peace of mind. I had a self storage facility filled with old computers, software and other stuff.

I was paying a monthly storage fee and I just wanted to stop the bleeding. They take it to the dump or keep it or sell it. It is a little sad seeing all your stuff which you still think has some value carted away.

Hope that helps. Sources: personal experience .

You have have to just do it! (get rid of it) make this a rule, IF YOU DONT USE IT ONCE A WEEK YOU DONT NEED IT, and if its something that you think oh I will use this one day, well when that day comes you can buy it. There is just no way that we can keep everything, you have no where to store it, then your house becomes unorganized and crap starts piling up everywhere.

I was a pack rat, collecting everything and never wanting to get rid of nothing, then oneday I just got so sick of all the crap, I wanted a clean and organized house, so I said to myself iam gona have a yard sale , I keep putting that off week after week, month after month, finally I had the sale, I took alot of stuff out that I had been collecting in a corner for my yard sale, it was so hot that day and people were trying to talk me down from one dollar to fifty centsSince that time I have called about 2 more times, I think you have to get rid of everything in stages, its sort of an addiction I guess, like a 12 step program. You just have to make the choice to get rid of it, just do it, don't think about it, trust me you will never even miss the stuff because you forget. My life has become a little more manageable but trust me I still have more to get rid of, little by little ,but iam almost there and I feel much better, its much easier to clean house now..

I just did this on Saturday! It was a daunting task and I really did not want to do it! Luckily, my husband started without me which made me feel guilty and so I went and joined him.

I am so glad I did because we made quite a difference! Our garage was so cluttered that you couldn't even walk a path through it without hitting something. We certainly could never find anything in there.

First steps: Start my removing what is in the garage. We park our cars in the driveway. (Certainly can't fit one in the garage!) and parked the cars on the street.

This gave us the entire driveway to stack and sort into like piles. I had a bunch of plastic storage containers into which I threw similar things. One had nothing in it but sandpaper.

Another had boxes and boxes of nails and screws. Once we emptied it out we saw that we had metal shelving that wasn't being used. We put the shelving up around the perimeter and then we were able to go back and place the stuff that we removed on shelves.

We seemed to have lots of paper bags filled with stuff. Most of the stuff were hardware purchases. I found jumper cables, a staple gun & staples, and 4 lock sets!

Now these are on shelving where I can see what it is. The garage is also used as a woodworking shop so we had a lot of tools and wood.In ONE day we couldn't organize everything, but we did manage to stack all of the wood neatly in two places rather than have it strewn about. All of the woodworking stuff is on one side of the garage.

This still needs to be ordered properly. Rome wasn't built on a day and neither is a neat garage. We will tackle this in the future.

At least we now know what we have and have the shelving to put things. Make sure you allow yourself enough time. Our goal was to be able to move about in the garage.

We did that and then some. The garage is somewhat organized and the floor has been swept. There was stuff in the garage that has been in the exact spot since we moved in 14 years ago.

If we didn't know what it was, we tossed it out. If it was broken, it was tossed out. Lots of stuff was in the garage that really should have been in our shed, so we moved grass seed, rakes, shovels, tomaote stakes out to teh shed in the yard.

When we first moved in, we didn't have a shed so it made sense to put these things in the garage. You will need shelving, storage bins, glass jars or coffee cans to store nails, screws & bolts in. Set up garbage cans to toss out the stuff that is broken/garbage.

Make a pile for stuff that is usable, but you no longer want or need. Everything else will be going back into the garage. The stuff you no longer want you can sell at a yard sale or give away to your neighbors who will be sure to come by to see what you are doing.

As you look at the stuff in your driveway, you will see a pattern. There will be yard tools, power tools, sports equipment, paints/varnish, hardware, automotive and maybe even houseware stuff. Decide where you would like to put this stuff in teh garage and then designate a space for each of your categories.

This will make finding stuff much easier the next time you are looking for something. Good Luck. Once you start removing the stuff, you will immediately feel better about starting the project.

You will be able to see the possibilities and you will feel as if you are making an impact on the way your garage looks. Start with the premise of some of those shows and decide what you really need. Take a weekend and go through everything in your garage. Carve out a section of it to put items you want to keep.

Once you have your stuff to keep, then you can decide what you want to do with the rest. If it's decent stuff, you have a couple of options - If you have the time to do it (sort, label, etc for everything), then Garage Sale! If you don't have time to sell it, but the stuff is still decent, call someone like the Salvation Army, Disabled Veterans, or Goodwill and see if they will haul it away.

If the stuff isn't decent, and you really have "junk", then a great company to call is 1-800-Got-Junk. 1800gotjunk.com/us_en/homepage.aspx These guys will give you an estimate of what it will cost to haul your stuff away. They'll usually just ask what the square footage of your garage is or the general area they need to clear - so they can decide what size truck to bring.

Then, they'll show up and confirm the estimate (if they change it, they will notify you first for your approval and signature). Once that's done, you can sit back and watch them do all of the work. We did this for my mom's garage - we had a gigantic pile of stuff going back to the 70s that we cleared out of her garage, attic, and so on.

Apart from things like old paint cans, Got Junk hauled it all away for about $150 (it was a huge pile).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
