I am looking for a new TV, no larger than 36inch, but want 1080p. Which brands and/or types would you suggest getting and why? Asked by nicbuu 36 months ago Similar questions: DLP LCD Plasma TV Consumer Electronics > TV & Video.
LCD is my favorite I'm not 100% sure, but I think DLP only applies to rear projection TV or TV projectors. You can also get LCD rear and front projection tvs. Although projection TV has improve a lot, it still is not as good as a real flat panel LCD TV. I would steer away from plasma--it is pretty old technology and still has some problems.
Projection tvs require you to change the very expensive bulbs every few years to maintain picture quality. I shopped around and looked at several brands. My final two were Sony and Samsung.
Samsung has far better specifications than comparable priced Sonys. Samsung has a better picture than Sony. Therefore, I picked a Samsung LN45A650 as our new set.It is the best TV we have owned.
Samsung has sets with more features and sets with less. I picked the 650 model as it has just what I wanted. The contrast ratio is real high, the refresh rate is very fast, and the brightness is so good that we watch it in a room that is nearly all windows during the day with no problem.
We have used this set for about 4 months and I have absolutely now complaints. I shopped around for price after picking a set. Locally, this set was very expensive and would have cost sales tax to boot.
Amazon has free white glove delivery--a great option. They also have a very competitive price. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=samsung%20ln46a650&index=blended If you want a real bargain TV with pretty good picture--Walmart had a 46 inch Sanyo for under a thousand bucks--of course, you get what you pay for.
My advice is not to buy a projection TV or a plasma TV. Shop for a flat panel LCD set that meets your needs..
Mostly the type of TV you want to get mostly pertains how you plan on using it... Plasma is mostly better for TV or movie viewing, while LCD is better for video gaming! Plasma's usually have glass screens that can reflect lots of light and LCD's are usually a matte plastic... Plasma's also get a lot hotter and can get burned in images, if paused on screen for too long... I've always noticed, whether Plasma or LCD...Samsung's always have the best picture quality .
1 personally, whenever I have seen DLP sets in the stores, I have not been impressed; although they have the gigantic screen sizes, I don't like the limited viewing angles, that I have seen. I'm personally looking for one of the newer 120hz LCD screens, and waiting for the long lost uncle to get it for me; as the wife and I are paying for a home, and are going to start trying for children, so we will never have any money, unless we win a lottery or something. And since your looking for something no larger than 36 inches, I don't think you can find a DLP that small, unless its an older model; and I'm not sure about Plasma's being found that small either.
But LCD's can be found that size and with all the newest bells and whistles.

2 you're pretty much down to LCD, or the new OLED technology. Plasma and rear projection are both only available in sizes bigger than 36" check out crutchfield.com to help with your selection, but you can get some smoking good deals here on amazon.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
