Check this check this links:documentation.netgear.com/cg814wgv3/enu/...New" rel="nofollow">documentation.netgear.com/cg814wgv3/enu/... to the forums here hello to all! First let me explain what I have...motorolla cable modem hooked to dlink wireless router all of which is on this end of the house along with my home office computer. Kids room at the other end of the house equiped with new computer and xbox 360.
I have a 100' network cable running from my dlink router to the kids room (shared by 2 boys). One wants to be on the computer the other wants to play xbox live and of course they want to do it at the same time. Question is: I have another modem/router combo unit (netgear) can this be connected to my dlink router and support both computer and xbox in thier room.
I've seen other forums saying its possible by changing the netgear ip address and turning off dhcp or something to that effect but that just makes it a swith and i'm not sure that will support both units at the same time. I would like any suggestions do I need different equiptment?......is this configuration impossible?.....should I just take away thier electronics? Please help!

Connect to my wireless printer... It sounds as if your wireless network is configured for ad-hoc mode or each device is configured for a different wireless network. Configure the router for infrastructure mode and then connect the PC and printer to it while confirming all devices are using the same wireless network settings. Client mode , WRT54GL , DDWRT IntroductionHow to run a WRT54GL in client bridge mode , or client mode ( not recommended unless you want separate subnets and ip ranges ) Client modes basically runs the wrt54GL as any other wireless device that wishes to connect to the gateway router, the wrt54gl basically acts as a pure link between your device and the gateway wireless device. The big difference between client mode and client bridge modeclient mode - will use a seperate subnet and ip address / dhcp server ,the devices attached to the wrt54GL will use this separate ip range and subnetthis may not be an issue if all devices are connected to the wrt54GL are the only ones that need to share file over the lan , but if you wish to share files over devices connected to both the wrt54GL and the rest of your wired network you will find client mode an issue , and where client bridge mode comes inClient bridge mode Client bridge mode , uses the same subnet and ip range as the gateway router , thus all comps across the network run the same ip range and subnet mask , and are able to share files and printers without the need for passwords or lan bridging Sources: forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-ar... .
I have a Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Gateway CG814WG v2, that I just got from my cable company. Not able to connect using the wireless routerI have a Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Gateway CG814WG v2, that I just got from my cable company. This is the second wireless router in 3 weeks.
I can connect using the ethernet cable plugged into the router, but when I try to go wireless, it will work for a while and then will drop. It worked when the cable guy was here on Saturday, but then later that nighty it quit and I had to go back using the ethernet cable. Had the same problem with the Linksys router that they took back.
Can't use my wireless printer as the router is not working. Have tried to disconnect, disable, re-enable and reconnect and still am getting only Local acess. Went into the setting and reverified the encryption setting and put in the WEP code again and still only local. Is the modem a piece of crap?
The cable guy has been out here three times already. Sources: http://forums.techguy.org/networking/736965-not-able-connect-using-wireless.html .

Post 2 of 10You can tryby samkh - 1/17/07 9:13 PM In reply to: Daisy chaining a router by digdug1168to use the modem/router as a switch but if you have too much trouble configuring it, it's cheap to buy a 5-port switch.
ReplyPermalinkReport offensive postPost 3 of 10give it a tryby linkit - 1/18/07 1:32 AM In reply to: Daisy chaining a router by digdug1168As Samkh stated, you would essentially be using the router as a switch.1. Connect a computer to a numbered port on the Netgear router. Log in to it's admin page.2.
If D-Link router's IP address is 192.168.1.1, then assign the Netgear router something like 192.168.1.50.3. Turn off the DHCP server on the Netgear router. 4.
Disconnect all devices from Netgear router.5. Connect a network cable form the D-link router to a numbered port on the Netgear routerDid it work? ReplyPermalinkReport offensive postPost 4 of 10tried it....by digdug1168 - 1/18/07 5:51 AM In reply to: give it a try by linkitThanks for the help.
I've logged on to the admin page on the netgear router, but I can't find any setting to change the ip or turn off the DHCP. It has a status page which shows the ip address and that the DHCP is turned on but no place to change those settings. Therefore, it may not have all the features that typical store bought routers have.

Not very expensive online. ReplyPermalinkReport offensive postPost 8 of 10switchby digdug1168 - 1/18/07 9:20 AM In reply to: checking netgear.com... by linkitWill a switch allow both the computer and the xbox to have internet connections at the same time or does it "switch" from one to the other? The xbox needs a constant upstream and downstream to work properly, right?
ReplyPermalinkReport offensive postPost 9 of 10switch will workby linkit - 1/18/07 3:04 PM In reply to: switch by digdug1168Adding a switch essentially adds more network ports to your router. In your case, the ports will just be on a 100' extension. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
