Why don't wallets deal with coins in a convenient way?

Because older coins get lost, destroyed, collected, and recycled. Think about it like a pile of sand, when you spread that pile out, little pieces get lost, so more sand is distributed.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
