Why is the Harry Potter character Lord Voldemort so arrogant?

Arrogance of Lord Voldemort Lord Voldemort is arrogant primarily because he is so powerful. Even in the real world people often get arrogant when they can order other people around or use their knowledge to manipulate others. Because he grew up in an orphanage and learned to hate the world there.

He heard of a prophecy that niether can live while the other survives, the other being harry, so, being himself, he made an army of death eaters to beat harry and make the world his.
