Absolutely yes! Turntable requires musical skill and it can produces unique music that can be listened and loved by people. I think anyone who could produce music with any kind of musical instrument can be called musician.
Even those who are playing music using a comb! (yes, there are people who did that). And in this case, turntable DJ definitely qualified.
A musician is one who can play a musical instrument and so, he can understand in the true sense music. I do not consider a DJ a musician because he does not play a musical instrument and so he cannot master musical concepts (scales, chords, arpeggios etc) or understand them in a direct and practical way.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
