What's the best musical instrument to learn to play?

The Piano for sure. One of the biggest things learned on the piano is scales, and scales are used in almost every other musical instrument (except percussion). Most other musical concepts (notes, chords, octaves, sharps, flats, major, minor, harmony, melody, etc...) can be learned on the piano and then translated to other instruments.

Most composers use a piano in some way.

Depends on what type of music you're into. Personally I grew up playing piano (I was forced to) and now I hate the piano. After my dad let me quit the piano, I personally pursued the guitar and now I love playing the guitar.

There is no "best" musical instrument to play but based on your musical tastes you should think accordingly. For example, if you like classical music, pursue the piano, violin, etc. If you like rock music pursue the guitar, drums, etc.Maybe head to several musical instrument stores and try and figure out what best suits you. Hope this helps!

I would say a guitar, you'll be able to play lots of popular songs by learning from the wealth of free online lesson. If you enjoy rock music you can get an electric guitar and play heavier music with an amp, but you have the option of a quieter mellow acoustic guitar if you just want to strum away in your room. This could not be said for a drum kit!

Unlike a piano you won't need lots of space or a few thousand pounds for a great sounding one. Another advantage to the guitar is you don't hav to learn to read music as you can use tabs instead.
