For those who download big files, how high have you seen Mbps or KBps get to? I max out at 4.1Mbps/530KBps?

I see about 12 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up consistently on my standard Optonline connection. My cable service has been more reliable than my Verizon land line phone service over the years so I prefer it over DSL, and FIOS isn't available where I live yet. Service, even from the same company, can vary widely from location to location so it's always best to get a feel from others IN YOUR AREA.DSLReports.Com aka BroadbandReports.

Com is a good source for local information via their Review section. You can enter your zip code for searchin to get reports from other users in your area.

In the past year I have used both optimum online and fios. Surprisingly enough I got faster speeds with optimum than fios, but their service wasn't as reliable and that is why I switched. As for speeds, I got 15mbit with optimum cable and now I get 10mbit with verizon fios.

I have been very happy with fios as I consistently get the service I pay for unlike optimum where my speeds would vary greatly and the service was flaky. As you can see I am getting over 1megabyte/second this morning.

I am paying for 3MB up, 16 MB down. I consistently pull 25Mbps, but suspiciously only in test sites. If I was a paranoid kind of guy I would suspect that Comcast has configured us so traffic to test sites takes priority, but luckily I am not.

Doing bit torrents I have been able to pull around 2Mbps before everything slows down. Using Netflix streaming on the Xbox 360 I consistently hit the HD streams, which tells me that my connection is usually stable.

The highest I have ever downloaded something at was at 9368kbps on our college T2 line. It was amazing. I have a friend in california that has fiberoptic lines to his house, and he is downloading at like 15955kbp.

The best I have seen is between 4.5 and 4.8 Mbps. This is usually early in the morning and decreases noticeably during the day. My provider is Comcast.

They claim up to 15 Mbps download speed but I have never gotten even close to that. They also supposedly have a 200 gig cap per month.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
