Has anyone taught beginning Spanish with native Spanish speakers in the classroom? Any suggestions?

I taught a Spanish Native class twice. One thing I can say about my students is, they liked learning about their country. Every week I will give them an article to read in class.

The article was always about a different Spanish-speaking country or community in the U.S.A. After reading and discussing it orally, they had to answer written questions in complete questions. In addition, they will have a grammar exercise based on the article and the unit we were studying. Another thing I would like to share with you is that, Spanish-speaking students like that you listen to them with respect.

This is very important because many times, they are going to be sharing their personal experiences with the language or they will be talking about their parents' country. You do not have to agree with them, but let them know that their answer was interesting. Say one or two positive things before making corrections.

Also remember that, for many of your students, your class is going to be their favorite class because they can speak Spanish. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
