How do I change a shower stem do that it will turn one way to gradually get warmer instead of two ways to hot and cold?

I have a shower handle that turns one way to get cold and another way to get hot. The problem is that it's not very well balanced and I'd actually prefer it to move just one way to gradually get warmer.Do I need to replace the stem, or can I somehow change a setting on the stem to switch it? I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
