I seem to have a problem w/stray cats in my yard. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them? My mom a few months ago called animal control and they told her someone would have to be home to trap them.

And also that stray cats were a problem in the area where I live. Then my neighbor said when he sees them he feeds them whenever they are around. But then the cats (there are 3) end up in my yard and chase them away if I happen to be on my porch.

Or mom wants me to chase them away. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them? Asked by CrazyandBeautiful 41 months ago Similar questions: problem stray cats yard suggestions rid Science > Animals.

Well you could do the kind thing........that is get a carrier and trap them to take them to the humane's society. My mother feeds all strays....we also have 6 indoor cats. My neighbor has 4 cats, 2 dogs and zillions of birds....all strays, left for dead, abused animals.

If they are spraying in your yard, try CLEAR bottles of water. I am not sure why this works, but it does. There is also spray you can put on your furniture on the porch to keep them from going on it.

I am sorry these helpless, homeless creatures are such a burden to you & your mother. If you have in your heart, trapping them and taking them to a shelter would help them.......

1 Cats don't like citrus, especially oranges, so I would suggest spraying around your area with citrus oil spray, or even easier, leave orange peel around the yard.

4 The poor things are likely former pets that were dumped. Given JasonGarrett's and newfietom's comments I would strongly urge a kinder approach. Late2Serenity is right, cats will typically avoid strong citrus smells.

The longterm solution is Have-A-Heart humain traps and then transport to a no-kill shelter.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
