If I wanted to buy one lens, for an XTi, that can get wide angle views and also can zoom out far which one would I buy?

I'm looking for something from approximately 18-300mm range with nice colors, a really low aperture value, anti shake, and sharp pictures. Am I dreaming or is there such a lens? Asked by Jekyll 41 months ago Similar questions: wanted buy lens XTi wide angle views zoom Arts > Photography.

Your dreaming I think I would suggest you get 2 lenses. First one that long, you looking at a 15-20X zoom factor will not be very sharp and will not have a low aperture value either. So I would suggest getting 2 lenses instead.Do you need low light shooting?

If so then get a 70-200 F2.8 I have the Tamron and its nice, but I should have gotten the Canon F4 IS instead I think. The Tamron focuses kinda slow compared to my buddy's Canon. And the XTi the noise on the images at higher ISO are not too bad, about the same as my 30D.

So you should be ok. Look at the Canon 17-40mm (its my next lens I think) and then the 70-200 F4 IS L. You can use the 1.4x on it to make it even longer if need and remember the 200mm on our cameras is like a 320mm really.

I know Tamron makes one that is like 28-300 and I hear its ok. I tried it once and was not impressed. I like Tamron lenses, they are tons better than tokina and those are even better than the sigma junk.

But the Canon ones are so much sharper and focus faster! That would be my suggestion. Also get a Tamrac Velocity bag to carry it all in and your set.

I just got one and I love it. I borrowed my buddies Canon 100-400 for a weekend when I took my son camping and fishing, and wow, that is a great lens. That is now on my WANT list... Your dreaming. The more you want a lens to do, or range you want it to cover the more it will cost and often the lower the image quality will get. I suggest the Canon 100-400 for a great long zoom lens.It has IS and is a pretty sharp lens.

I use mine a lot, actually more than my fixed 500mm partly do to the weight. The 70-200 F4 IS or 2.8 IS are also very nice lenses, and I would suggest using the 1.4X if you wanted more reach on them and they are fairly fast as well. For a zoom the 16-35 F2.8 is nice, but I don't fine it worth the $ to be honest.

I had one and prefer my 17-40 F4 L as its as sharp or sharper wide open and its less than 1/2 the cost. Canon also makes a 10-22, but its slower and most people really don't need anything that wide.... Tamron makes a 28-300 but when its zoomed in its soft, I have tested it. They also have a 70-200 F2.8 in their SP (pro series) and its nice, and a great buy, but slower to focus than the canon models, so it up to you.

Canon has a 28-300 L IS lens, but its soft and very heavy and not one I would suggest. You will get better results with 2 different lens. The 24-105 F4 IS is a great lens and one I use a lot.

Its a great walk around lens, and its fast and sharp! Hope this helps. 1 I think you might be able to find them in the high dollar zone. I'd break that down into three lenses if I were you. My standard is a 17-85 EFS, and it's great.

Not too big but great zoom range for everyday stuff. If you were to couple that with a 70-300 it'd probably cost less and be less of a hassle to work with than trying to buy it all-in-one.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
