Is there a point and shoot digital camera that has a fast shutter speed or do I need to looking into SLR?

I have been trying to get pictures of my son (he's about 7 months) with my Panasonic DMC-LZ3 and the pictures are GREAT when they come out. It's just for every 10 pictures only 1 of them is usable. SLRs are better Usually SLR have shorter shutter lag than point-and-shots. Check shutter lag comparison tables (I don't want copy/paste huge tables): This one contains info about many point-and-shots: cameras.co.uk/html/shutter-lag-compariso... This one has info about SLRs and some point-and-shots (including autofocus lag): impulseadventure.com/photo/shutter-lag.html You could use those tables as start point to select camera. To get good photos of kids, I'd recommend SLRs (also SLRs provide better image quality than point-and-shot).

SLRs work better (usually more photos per second) in continuous shooting (press button and take as many pictures as camera would allow). If price/size/weight are not your biggest concerns, check Canon Rebel Xti or Nikon D40x .

I suspect you need to get a dSLR... The *some* point & shoot digital cameras have less shutter lag, but I suspect you're looking for *ZERO* lag, which is going to require the step up to the dSLR level. On the plus side, you can get into a Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel XT for about the same as a high-end point & shoot ($525-575). The only downside is the size, which isn't a big deal considering the size of the P&S cameras that have the higher-end features... they're almost the size of a dSLR.

A DSLR is the way to go for lack of shutter lag It is not even detectable to most people and entry-level DSLRs are as cheap now as a high quality digicam. I recommend these depending on your budget. Great for moving kids!

Recent Consumer Reports tests There was an article in our paper today on small digital cameras with reduced shutter lag (re purposed from comsumer reports). They suggest the Sony DSC-H2, DSC-N2, DSC-t50, DSC-T10 and DSC-W50. You probably need to move up to a SLR for improved light sensitivity though.

The larger sensors on these cameras have greater light sensitivity and allow for faster shutter speeds. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
