Here's a couple There was a recent (Dec 2006) round-up of routers on consumersearch. Com and they recommended several routers. Note that the 802.11n standard is still being negotiated, but we are on our third generation of pre-N routers.

Any n router that you buy runs the risk of not being upgradeable when the final standard is adopted. Also, you will probably have to but wireless cards for your computers from the same manufacturer and product line. Please read the rest of the story.

That said, the consensus of multiple reviews is that the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router is the best at $120, but the TRENDnet TEW-631BRP 300Mbps Wireless N-Draft Router is a great runner-up for much less money.802.11g routers are very well developed, solid and reliable. The Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster is the best of that group. Sources: http://askville.amazon.com/SimilarQuestions.do?req=wireless-router-playstation-80-gig .

Connection to my PS3 drops So a couple months ago I upgraded from DSL to Cable internet. I thought this would have been a good idea but boy was I wrong. Once I got it up and running it worked fine for a week or so than my internet would drop randomly and I would have to reset my router.

I figured it was the cable company (Charter Communications) so I had them send out a tech guy and he was here for about 2 days installing new modems and what not after he did that the internet was working fine than bam started messing up again and I called charter yet again but they siad there wasnt any problems with the connection from me to them. So what I had to start doing was reset it about every 10 minutes or so. Than I figured hey it could be my wireless router (I am going through the internet hardline to the router wireless router is for my dads Ps3), so I went out and purchased a Belkin Wireless N1 router than the problem just got worse and worse from there I end up having to unplug the cat 5 cable from the back to the wireless router and make it so its the modem straight to the computer and not going through the router than I have to unscrew the cable cord from the modem and open up the network panel and refresh the IP settings about 3 or four times than plug it all back in and it works again.

When I talked to the Charter guy over the phone he told me it was because I have so many tunneling adapters? And when I type in ipconfig via Command Prompt it says I have these number Tunneling adapter: 6, 7 ,9, 11. Can anybody help me fix this problem please it is so frustrating all I want to do is play computer games and know that something im paying for is working.. Based on what I've read, it's due to the ps3's wireless network card... ...not being able to handle the key exchange very well. A router has to exchange the key every 5 to 10 minutes to make sure its a secure connection, for some reason the ps3's wireless network card cant handle it every 5 to 10 min, so it drops. Follow the directions underneath and I assure you that your connection won't drop anymore.

Many have tested this theory and all have had success, so go on and try it yourself! First, I have the 60GB PS3 connected wirelessly via an Apple Aiport Express/Extreme to a cable modem. I have been using WPA2 security however, like most who replied to this thread I was losing connection and the speed is really slow.So I changed my security setting to NO SECURITY and changed the router to NOT broadcast the SSID.

So I am running an unsecure router that is hidden unless you know my routers name. Since this change earlier today I have had enjoyed great though put speed and have not lost my connection once. The bottom line is the PS3 wireless driver is not handling the security exchange very well.

The good news is this should be able to be fixed with a patch. Now we just have to wait for Sony to fix this problem. Sources: boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/boa... .

Wireless connection to PS3 drops out all the time guysGot this problem where everytime I turn on my PS3, and as soon as it connects to the PSN, my laptop and desktop drop out from the network. Then the PS3 drops out from the network as well. A few seconds later it'll reconnect onto the network again, then everythings fine.. for a while.

:(While I was downloading something on my laptop, and playing games (offline) on my PS3, everything was all good. As soon as I started downloading something on my PS3, everything dropped out again. :(I never used to have this problem, but i'm sure the PS3 is the centre of the problem.

I've got Linksys WRT54G, maybe it's time to upgrade. I tried searching around, just read a few posts where it could be the firmware, but i've got version 7.00.4 from Linksys, which is the latest. Any ideas?

ThanksWatch the router when it happens. Does the actual router seem to crash? Are the other computers also on a wireless connection, or do cabled connections drop out as well?

:)What firmware are you using? If it's the standard Linksys f'ware perhaps you might want to investigate the opensource DD-WRT fw which is very popular – particularly for your router. I understand it provides additional features & in some cases better stability.

You may have nothing to lose! Firmware, signal strength, or encryption. The latter was the problem for me before I ended up downgrading my router firmware for it to work properly.

Not sure if that's been addressed sinceI'd check or change encryption and play with the "CHANNEL ID" on the Linksys tried to watch it while it drops out. Nothing seems to happen while it drops out, all the LEDs seem to be flashing like usual. Edit: Sorry, I guess I was running to the other room too slow =( , I just checked it again, and when the PS3 connected onto the network, the routers LEDs all flashed up and then went back to normal. It looks like it soft-reset itself.

In all cases the wireless connections dropped out. For the wired connection I'm not too sure, but there have been a couple of times where my younger brother complained that he got dropped out in the past 2 days because of my PS3 though. Yeah, I'm using the standard Linksys firmware, i'll try upgrading to that one, thanks.

Edit : Just checked the dd-wrt website, it seems that they don't support the WRT54G V7 :(Mm, my routers set on Channel 10, is this a real big problem? I'd head to Portforward.Com and set up internal static Ip's for all your devices ie192.0.0.1 I tried port forwarding, but not with these NAT ports. Will try it.

My routers currently set to a wireless signal of only 802.11g, what difference would it make if I changed it to b/g? Doesn't the PS3 use g anyway? What do you mean by capping it to 18mbps?

Use Wireless G Routers The Belkin Wireless G Router lets users share files and a broadband Internet connection among their computers-without using networking cables. It features 802.11g technology that makes accessing files and networked peripherals-such as hard drives, printers, CD-ROMs, and DVDs-easier than ever. 802.11g technology provides you with networking speeds nearly five times faster than the current Wi-Fi (802.11b) standard. An integrated, 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch also allows you to connect wired computers to the network.

802.11g technology is the easiest wireless network to implement. The Router uses the wireless 802.11g 2.4GHz standard to offer you 400 feet of wireless coverage.802.11g technology is backward compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard, so it allows you to implement faster wireless technologies in combination with existing 802.11b Wi-Fi networks Sources: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=136493 .

Will my wireless on laptop put in cable bit to ps3 will it send connection.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
