Should I Get An Alienware Laptop (Alienware M17x) or buy a custom built PC?

Touching the case means NOTHING when trying to tell if it's overheating. Heat is generated in chipsets, either on the CPU or GPU and the heat is then exhausted out of the case by way of the ducting. Problem is, this highly concentrated heat is diluted down to maybe 2-3 degrees difference in air temp coming out of those ducts.

Download the applications to monitor those two hotspots: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp http://www.gputemp.com Start the applications, play a game for a few minutes and then alt+tab out to check the temp on the processors. My bet is that it's the Video card thats overheating. Maybe the fan on the card is dead.

Or if it's the CPU (unlikely or the comp would be acting up whether gaming or not), the fan might not be going full speed. If it's the video card, and it has a fan built onto the card, you need a new one. If the card has only a heatsink (a chunk of aluminum with ridges all over it) then buy a system blower and mount it close to the card in the case to move more air over it.

If it's the CPU, buy a new CPU fan and a tube of Artic Silver Thermal Compound. Remove the old Headsink and fan from the CPU, spread the Compound on the CPU chip (if theres still some from before just leave it and don't add as much), put the new heatsink on and tighten down the latch that hold it on. Plug in the little power cable and close the case up.

I would point to the ram first as that will crash a pc, also a video card willl totally lock the pc and freeze it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
