Canon EF-S 60mm (or EF 100mm) f/2. 8 Macro USM out of the whole selection of macro lenses, Canon EF-S 60mm f/2. 8 Macro USM and the EF 100mm are the best in terms of prices and performances both have F stop at 2.8 and build with USM motor the EF-S 60mm is special design for small senor camera (e.g. Rebel XT, or XTi) personally, I like the 100mm a bit better that it has a longer zoom and fit for both small or full size senor camera Sources: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=155 chu128's Recommendations Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.

Canon EF 100mm f/2. 8 Macro USM I recently purchased this macro lens and it is everything it claims to be. When used with a tripod it is tack sharp.
The hood does not come with it so you have to purchase it separately. This lens is also a good portrait lens. It is sturdy and has the same feel as the L-series lenses, but without the price tag.
Cons - This isn't really a con for me, but when you are working with tiny subjects the auto focus has trouble, but it is very easy to manual focus this lens. I'm really happy with my EF 100mm f/2. 8 Macro USM Here’s the specs: usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=Mo... It takes some super-crisp photos, seems to have a nice sweet spot. It also doubles as a telephoto lens and since it’s a f/2.8 it has a nice range of depth-of-field.
But I use it mostly for macro photography. What’s also nice is that you don’t have to get super-close to the subject either with this one. You can actually work from a comfortable distance.
This is especially good for photos of bugs. :-) Some tips for when you buy your macro lens The best tip I would say is to definitely use a tripod when possible. Since it's macro even the slightest movement tends to be magnified.
And even though it's a pretty fast lens, I find that in most normal lighting situations I benefit from using a tripod. If you buy a tripod make sure it's one that can go really low to the ground. Some tripods have a feature where you can remove part of the "stem" that the camera attaches to and the legs go out really wide and it lets the camera sit literally inches from the ground.
The other thing I bought that has made life easier is one of those L-Shaped viewfinder adapters. Here's what I'm talking to (Link goes to amazon's website) amazon.com/Canon-Angle-Finder-EOS-Camera... Canon isn't the only one who makes those, you might be able to find a cheaper one. Another handy thing is believe it or not...knee pads!
I'm usually photographing plants, flowers, and on occasion bugs, and spending all that time low to the ground can really hurt.So I'd say knee pads...and probably a regular Yoga practice would help. ;-) Here are some examples of photos I've taken with my macro lens: But enough talk, I should let my photos do the talking for me... flickr.com/photos/chumpboy/sets/72157594... I'd love to see photos you're taking with your macro lens too when you get it! Good luck!

A hood would probably be good also if only for the extra protection. But the good thing is that you're usually not up too close to the subject with the 100mm.
You didn’t specify a price range. We can’t all afford a lens that costs $1,000. Here are some Canon macro lenses: Canon EF-S 60 mm F2.
8 macro lens price is approx $380 Image quality is great. Very sharp and great bokeh. The auto focus speed is slow.
Canon 100mm f/2. 8 Macro USM price is approx $450. This is an awesome lens.
It makes a nice portrait lens too. Great lens at an unbeatable price. If you are stuck between the 60mm above and this one, I would spring for the few extra bucks and get this one.
Both of these are good, but if you have money to blow, check out this one: Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L USM Macro price is approx $1300! I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
