In my state, Missouri, we have state parks that are set up on springs (like Bennett Springs State Park) and they are stocked with trout. The true answer to your question is a long one, but I would say the short answer is:Either Lake Taneycomo in Branson Missouri, or the White River in Arkansas. Alternatively, small stream fishing is best in one of the afore mentioned state parks.
Good luck, keep a tight line!
My guess would be the Henry's Fork in Idaho.
My vote is the St. Joe river in IdahoIt is remote, beautiful and there are some huge westslope cutts hiding out in it. And you can fish it unguided and still, find great access and catch fish.
My dad and I went to Little Minipi Lake in Labrador for Brook Trout & Arctic Char in September of 1978. My first Brook Trout on a fly was a five and a half pounder. The trip cost about $800 for a week's stay per person.
Caught the Brookie on a "Grey Ghost" streamer I dressed myself! Beautiful country up there.
I like the McCloud river in Northern California. The northern Idaho panhandle also has some great remote spots like the St Joe and more pristine hike to lakes than you can shake a stick at.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
