It's hard when you are a mom! You are feeding everyone forever and it's so easy to snack a little here and there yourself! You might try Weight Watchers.

Of all the formal ways to lose weight, they are the most effective, safest, with the longest-lasting results. Please avoid Atkins or any of the carb-eliminating diets completely. You absolutely, as a busy mom, need a balanced diet.

Here are some things I found that worked and still work: 1. Protein in the morning. No matter what.

This eliminates a lot of the sugar bounce that goes along with just slamming that glass of orange juice down with a piece of toast, or something like that. Cheese on the toast, or a quick egg. And cut an orange up so you get the whole thing and not just the juice.2.

Try to do housework at double speed. I know that sounds funny, but we do a pretty good amount of exercising when we clean things up -- stretching, bending, lifting -- all of it. So put a little more energy into it and burn a few more calories.3.

Avoid buttering toast. That's at least five pounds a year. You'll get used to it!4.

If there is any conceivable way to do it, call a halt to your day between four and five in the afternoon, when you are starting to slump so badly. If the kids are old enough to hang in there for an hour without you (I used to tell my kids, when I was a single parent, "If it's not blood and bones, I don't want to hear about it until five! ), take a cup of tea or a bit of wine or something you like -- I mean water's OK, too!

-- and some kind of comfort food (small amount, please, but it can be toast, or a bit of chocolate, or crackers and cream cheese....whatever you want) into the bedroom, shut the door, enjoy it VERY slowly, and read a good book or just stare at the ceiling. Make sure you get your feet up and just spend an hour being very quiet. This is not even a time for a shower.

Just be still. If you are Christian, spend a few minutes just talking to the Lord. It will calm your whole evening. It will also refresh you and keep your appetite down at dinner.

That is a real key time for us, as we tend to stuff fast to get the food in for energy and get up quickly to take care of the kids. If you are not too hungry then, and calmer, you will eat far less then. Essentially, the key is taking control of your own eating habits more than trying to diet.

Identify your high stress time and schedule a break for yourself before it on a regular basis. If the kids are all in school, maybe you can lie down from two to three in the afternoon. But that hour a day to yourself can make all the difference in the world in the middle of a busy life, not only in terms of your emotional stability, but your physical health and weight as well.

Of course you should try to snack on veggies and such. But you already know that! I would suggest steering the entire family clear of things sweetened with corn syrup of any kind and cut out the sodas, diet or otherwise.

This alone will bring a lot of stuff under control. If you have a hyper problem with any of the kids, studies have shown that artificial flavorings and colorings produce a marked effect in promoting activity levels. So you might want to cut them out, too. And just one other thing.

We are not all supposed to look like models. We have different builds and different metabolisms. Take a realistic look at yourself and decide if you really need to lose all that weight, or maybe just part of it.

Take care of yourself..

Weight Watchers I lost 80 pounds on weight watchers. They teach you how to view food and portions differently. But, you have to go to the weekly meeting - something about being there makes you "stick" to the program. It is as if you need to "report" to someone about your work - so it keeps you on track and honest.

I'm a busy mom too . .. And when you have a hard day, and finally in the evening get a bit of time to sit, and see that cupcake ... Well, I always said, "You know, I worked hard today, and I DESERVE that cupcake." But, that never helps.

You need to reward yourself with something other than food. ANYTHING but food. Shopping, surfing the Internet, get creative -- maybe do a small craft, or learn something new like a language.

You can do it -- everyday gets you one step closer to the goal. Good luck to you, and make sure you don't "LOSE" your smile, just the weight! :0) .

Routine diet and exercise. Lets face it there is no quick lasting solutions. The only way something is going to last is if it is a lasting routine.

If you will easily quit doing you will quit seeing the results too. So if you get on diet pills, a slim fast diet, anything that offers quick results without a way to make it a life style it is destined to fail right from the start. Its like asking for a job that continuously pays you after 2 weeks worth of work.

But, if I did want a quick fix that would last I would choose one that gave me a way to maintain it. I like the South Beach. I start with phase one for two weeks, then into phase 2, into the liberal phase 3.

Phase 1 will take a lot of discipline and is not for everyone. But, after that its pretty easy to keep up with. That, and exercise consistently.

Find an exercise that you will want to do and you have already won the game. That is the most important aspect of any weight loss regimen, your mentality. You have to change the way you think. As long as you want to be eating this or that on a daily basis and as long as you dread exercise you will NEVER have lasting results, NEVER.

So, the solution is to enjoy going for s jog, to enjoy playing tennis or whatever. You must enjoy cooking healthy foods like baked chicken and broccoli or whatever. I have lost weight on the South Beach and kept it off.

I messed up for the Holidays but got back on track. You must always know your limits and not enjoy eating in excess. I am appalled at myself for eating all that junk this holidays and thats the way it should be.

So the difference is mentality. So in short, if you want double results, double the effort. Diet mixed with exercise is deadly to fatty tissue.

You'll clean it up quick. But, you must be in it mentally first. The you can have a new life.

Sources: Lots of effort and failures.

Atkins or South Beach The American diet is loaded with transfats, white flour and sugar, and a plethora of bad carbs. I have tried many diets but the plan that has worked the best for me is South Beach or Adkins. You are allowed to have good carbs like vegies and meats for the first phase. It also asks you to NOT drink diet drinks that are loaded with aspertane--not a good thing.

For me, Adkins has taught me that eating what is good for me makes me feel so much better. By the elimination of white flour products, and bad carbs ( I was a cookie junkie) I have more stable moods, feel physically better and have a better outlook. I do not have that morning dragged out feeling.

I also think that Wt Watchers is an excellent program, because it really examines portion control. Make working out fun The hardest part about losing weight is starting and staying consistent. Find a few activities you enjoy and those are the ones you need to do. If you like walking, running, biking, etc do those.

If you don't like cycle class or roller blading don't do them because you think those work better. Try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio that increases your heart rate 5 days a week if possible. Try to incorporate some weight training a couple days a week.

The more muscle you have... the more you body works harder to keep it. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!.
