Which would you get: Inkjet printer or laser printer?

I don't print that many pages - 5-10 pages per week. I like color prints and may want print out photos on rare occasions. Don't want to spend more than $500.

Any recommendations? Asked by Anchorman 51 months ago Similar questions: Inkjet printer laser Computers > Hardware > Computer Accessories.

A laser printer is the best choice. Initially I bought an ink jet printer, back when I first bought a printer, because it was much less expensive. I used that logic that I wouldn't print out much.

Over time though I found myself printing more and more and the ink jet cartridges added up to too much money over time and the quality isn't really that great compared to the laser. The old ink jet is still in the office but we were given a good quality photo laser printer as a gift by family members because they wanted better quality pictures from us! I don't know the cost on the good picture printer because it was a gift and I felt it would be tacky to look up the price. It was my responsibility to purchase printers for all the teachers at my school last month and even though they don't have much to print beyond grade sheets I bought them all laser printers (black and white only).

With a cartridge they were approx. $400 each. I would set $500 as my price range if I were you but I would plan on ordering the few prints of pictures from outside sources if quality is of any importance to you.

Some are a little bit higher than my suggestion of $500.

Get a Laser I'd get a monochrome laser printer, they're really cheap. It will pay for itself within the first 500 pages. For color prints, take your USB thumb drive to Walgreen's or Kinkos.

Much cheaper than buying and keeping an inkjet printer going and unclogged and in ink and paper.

Inkjet For your volume the expense of a laser would be excessive. You can get a decent color inkjet for under a hundred bucks. Text is better on a laser but not all that much.

Consumables for an inkjet are more expensive per page but with your volume that would be negligible. Color prints are better on cheap inkjets than on cheap lasers. Stick to brand names: HP, Epson, Canon, Brother, etc.Decide whether you really need things like scanning or faxing capability, memory card readers, LCD screens etc. Check the price of replacement cartridges before you decide.

The safety razor syndrome is alive and well: they'll happily sell you a cheap printer for 30 or 40 bucks in hopes of getting it all back by selling you expensive supplies. HP is notorious for that. Shop around and don't be afraid of the online discount places like Tiger Direct or Tech for Less.

Laser, if you can afford one. Inkjets are a ripoff. They give them away and then charge outragious prices for the refills. It helps very little to be frugal in using them since the ink cartridges dry out quickly and are useless.

I have had both laser and ink jet. When my laser concked out I bought an inkjet and I love it because I can print out in color. Like you, I print only occassionally so it works for me.As for $500, hmm.... I think I may have spent about that, maybe less, on the one I have.

It's a Hewlett Packard officejet 6310. It can copy, fax and scan but you may not need to have all of that so your price could be lower. I bought it at Best Buy.

What is better and cheaper,Inkjet or lasar printer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
