Why shouldn't the community center/mosque be built near ground zero?

I completly agree with you. I live in the UK and ive heard some stuff from this. Let me get this straight.

Muslim radicals kill 2200 people in the world trade centre. They have a mosque 4 blocks away from ground zero all ready. They want to build another one right next to ground zero instead of other places.

I don't have a problem with them buliding a mosque but not right next to the place where radicals from that religion killed over 2000 people. I agree with you when you said they try and see how far they can get like in britain where we are not aloud to hand christmas lights in public places anymore because they are offensive to muslims. Its like wtf if I go to your country I will get shot yet you want to stop us from expressing our religion in a christain country.

Thats what annoys me. Other than that some of them are okay :).

This is what I think, and I need a lot of people need to realize. READ READ READ, It is not a mosque. It is an interfaith center created by muslims so the rest of us can have dialogue.

There is some space to pray in it indeed, however, for the most part it is for dialogue and not a mosque. It is not ON ground zero but 2 blocks away or so. You can not see this building when it will be built nor can you see it from the World Trade Center site.

All I can say is, if you really apply this rhetoric collectively to all muslims even those born and raised in the United States. Then be ready to have the same applied right back at you collectively. I have heard some outrageous things as being told to go back where you came from just by your facial features, skin color, faith, even though you were born in the United States.

I have seen it. I have seen people attack a black man on the notion he was wearing an under armor skull cap that could stimulated people into thinking could be a kufi and the idea he could have been muslim. So, you all attacked him.

There are 9/11 families in support of this project. It depends who is educated by who. If you think Muslims are responsible as a whole collectively, then you are against it.

There are Muslims themselves that died inside the towers, but no one cares for their souls yet reject their faith and treat them as unequal. Talk about getting screwed more than once. This is more of an attack on the rights of a group, it is political excuses and hatred that is being stirred up towards that group.

Fox News has done wonders for some, yet facts are showing how hypocritical they are. What do you say to soldiers that are and were told they were a part of “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. They were freeing the Iraqis right?

Basically you are doing the opposite of what they went there for as well. It’s hate and bigotry in your hearts indeed. People could certainly apply the same notion to your way of thought but who has?

Has anyone done it yet? Maybe they should, to give you a taste of your medicine. People can say don’t build white christian churches near native American areas, due to the mass killing of native Americans from that group.

Or they can say the same for the native Canadians? Or the Australian Aboriginees? Or African Americans whose ancestors were slaves of those people?

Or the people that lived under British India, which was now separated into two different countries due to white Christian occupation? Or the holocaust, after all it was a white man who was Christian so you can blame that group as a whole right? And you can literally keep going.

Then take a look at the actual American prison/jail system. How many represent Muslims in there? How many?

And how many are from another group or faith or color? If you decide to do that, then the following below could easily result. If everyone wanted to follow your mindset a lot of things could happen: If you want to ban Muslims, and forbid the rights they have in America, to build a COMMUNITY CENTER for dialogue inside which YOU TOO are invited to sit and talk and work together, then I would think you would take away your buildings near the affected communities your group have done harm too as well.

After all, you are asking the public to collectively punish and hold responsible all Muslims for 9/11, so why not receive the same collective punishment back? Lets do it then? I would agree with your style of thought and believe you would agree with that notion?

You also need to realize, American Muslims do not represent Saudi Arabia or any other country but America. If they did represent those values then they would agree with them and live there. Being American means you can be anything, black, white, asian, indian, jamaican, arab, etc., You can have many ethnic backgrounds, faith, no faith, sexual orientation, male, female, but in the end you are American. 9/11 was the result of extremist pathetic loons and goons, they do not represent the majority of Muslims.

If the over 1.5 billion Muslims had that mindset you claim, then we would be in serious trouble big time. 9/11 should not be an issue connected to Muslims collectively. Remember, Muslims too are white, black, mixture of races, and so forth.

So you can’t take 9/11 and coin them all in there.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
