Why the North Indians impose Hindi on rest of India?

This is very sensitive topic undergone postmortem umpteen times in Y/A itself. I loved Hindi songs without knowing a word of it and sang too till I stepped out of Tamil Nadu. The moment I crossed TN and entered into Andhra on my way to Mumbai by train I became lost.

English was helpful to a certain extent but Hindi troubled me a lot. I had to work with North Indians where only Hindi was spoken. My spade work started with a many bungling.

My colleagues would tell me "Kolo" in Hindi.it means "Open" but I used to "Shut". "Bandh karo" to me is "Open". I would get "Ghalli" in Hindi.

I didn't understand then but now I deliver more eloquently than them. My workers from different parts North India helped me. Even now I can speak very good Hindi but I cannot read and write.

Now same working spot English is the spoken language. When go out to Hindi belt we should know Hindi. Same rule applies to all.

Wherever they work they should at least speak that language. Whenever I see Sardars, monopolist in Automobile spare parts business in South india, speak fluent Chennai Tamil,I am taken aback. I have seen them in theaters the very first day of Rajini's movie.

Now the hatred is not that much. Things have improved.

North Indians start to learn English very lately since they were able to manage with hindi in whole north, except few places. Where as we learnt english earlier than the norths. After 1965 almost all the states taught hindi but we refused. So now hindi speaking people r able to manage where ever they go in india except Thamilnadu.

So they expect us to know hindi. Not becoz,of their interest in mother tongue. If all the people start to speak hindi and atleast by that way united, after 100 yrs.

, our people will have less hatred with each other and start to stand as one country in many ways and hence there won't be a stage as in the history during & before18th century;ie. Being ruled by many Dhadhas = Kings. Aiming this Congress govt.

, of Nehru period raised the national language which ended up in mess. They failed to explain the ultimate aim properly. They made us think they give 1st place to hindi and hindi speaking people.

We must realize however rich a language, it is only mere signals to convey our thoughts to others and nothing more than that. The word 'mother tongue' is wrongly used to make the people mad. A child born in a hamlet of thamilnadu, adopted by a english couple was brought up at london.

That child knows only english. What is its mother tongue? Mine is thamil.

I've interest in it. I took part in hindi agitation too in my college days.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
