AMD FX 4100 vs Phenom II x4 965?

Here's a head-to-head comparison. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/5... CPU-intensive titles typically perform better with Intel processors, but the Core 2 Duo E8400 is quite dated. The Phenom II X4 965 would probably be slightly faster in FSX, just like Crysis and Fallout 3.

Starcraft 2 is one of the most CPU-intensive games currently on the market, although it only uses 2 cores. In that title, the Phenom II X4 965 trails the 1st generation Core i5's, but manages to beat the Core 2 Duo E8400. http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,76658... Ken: I'm not sure how the arguments you've been hearing have been phrased, but it's NOT "total rubbish".

In general, CPU clock speed is more important to gaming performance more than core count. That's why lower-clocked hexacores like the X6 1055T, 1075T and 1090T are SLOWER in games than higher-clocked quad-cores like the X4 965, 975 etc. Having extra cores sitting around idle doesn't help anything. And that's just comparing apples to apples with AMD processors.

Intel's Core i5 processors are more efficient at lower clock speeds, that's why a Core i5 760 easily outperforms a Phenom II X4 965. The 2nd-generation Sandy Bridge processors widen the gap even further, even the dual-core i3 2100 matches or beats the performance of the Phenom II X4 970 in most games! In titles which are multi-threaded the quad-core Phenom II beats the i3 2100, but still trails behind any 2nd-gen i5.

Don't get too hung up on Passmark rankings, those are just synthetic scores which often don't reflect real-world performance. Passmark composite rankings are weighted in favor of processors with additional cores, but what really matters is how CPUs perform in actual applications and game titles. This is more accurate than Passmark: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-s... http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300_7.html.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
