Have you ever taken a road trip?

I love roadtrips. My girlfriend and I try to go at least once a year. People think that we're odd for the way we do it though.

I have a giant map that hangs on my bedroom wall. When we decide to go, one of us throws a dart. Wherever it sticks is where we go.

There's something to do in every town across the nation. You just have to be open-minded enough to see the options that are before you, and willing enough to try them. On a whim I've driven to New York, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.

I live in Baton Rouge so the last couple of states aren't too far, but that drive to New York was killer. Had a blast though.

Several times during the summer my family would drive from our home in British Columbia to visit my grandparents -Dad's parents- in Pennsylvania. Dad doesn't like to fly if he is not the pilot, so we rarely flew. Mom and Dad took turns driving, so we never stopped overnight for a full night.My grandparents are dead now.

A couple of times we took the train.

Yes, I have travelled by car and by ferries with my husband from Germany to Ireland. From Germany with our car to France port, then with our car inside the ferry crossing the North Sea to England. We slept then in the ferry.

From Dover England port or Newcastle-Upon-Tyne port continued driving west to Hollyhead port passing Wales. We had to take a Bed & Breakfast to rest for a night. From Hollyhead port, an Irish ferry took us with our car crossing the Irish Sea to Dublin port, Ireland.

Then continued our travel across the many beautiful places in Ireland going west to the Atlantic Ocean. Travelling is fun and it is very tiresome but still, I do it again and again. It took us always 3 days to arrive to our destination.

I have taken several! Some for just the day others for the weekend taking me thousands of miles away and one when I was younger with my family that took three and a half months and around the country! Amazing adventures!

Now lets get teh gas prices down a little more so I can afford to take more :).

My wife and I travelled by car for two weeks, camping on most days and staying a little less than half of the time in hotels. Day 1: Albuquerque, NM to Little Rock, AR. Day 2: Little Rock, AR to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Day 3-5 Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, SC. Day 6: SC to Savannah, GA. Day 6-11 Savannah and Tibey Island, GA.

Day 12 GA to some-damn-where, Alabama. Day 13: Alabama to Altus, AR checking out all of the wineries in the Ozarks. Day 14 & 15: Back to New Mexico.

Yeah, down to Key West. It was on a drunken dare, and ended up being a drunken weekend at the great bars down there. Loads of fun.

Yes. One that I will never do again was Maine to Texas by myself. Way too long in a car!

Day 1 - Maine to New Hampshire. Day 2 - New Hampshire to Chapel North Carolina. Day 3 - NC to Mississippi.

And fiiiiinally day 4 - MS to Texas. Wasn't really a pleasure trip though, since I had to be back with my car in Texas. Car trips can be fun, but alone my limit is about 8 hours.

Have you taken one before?

We frequently travel to visit relatives in the north, but the biggest road trip that I ever remember was the one my family took when I was a kid. It was a kid's dream... There was a total of 12 people (mostly family) and we took an old RV on a trip to the western United States. We camped every night, (except one rainy night,) for three weeks.

From Crisp, cool, Mountains to desert wastelands, it was beautiful! We made many memories... playing games, hiking trails, having picnics and even pushing the RV up a hill when it had issues. ;) It is a favorite childhood memory of mine.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
