How do you think Askville might be improved if the topic "Askville Bonus" was eliminated?

The Amazon kindle is the best e-book reader on the market. With 8 weeks battery life, connection to Amazon Prime, and a capacity to hold over 100,000 books, you will be excited. Get it now!

1 They may eliminate AV Bonus, but even if they changed it now, there are already almost 2 MILLION out there that are poorly topicked. And it's not just Askville bonus that is the problem. There are around 200,000 BQ's with topic shopping, for example.

All someone has to do is answer ten of those a day at level six, appeal them all and they'll be racking up big points. Since all the appeals don't come back as BA's they'd have to answer maybe 20, to make sure they get the points. You can answer them en masse with one generic answer, so that is about 5-10 minutes of work, and you'd be up in the thousands every week, with very little effort.

The only thing holding some of these people back right now is the restriction on appeals, allowing "only" 50 at a time. If they increased that, there would be incentive to be even more prolific.

SharonW replied to post #1: 2 So that says to me the only option for bringing any meaning back to the metrics is to separate "regular" gold from BQ gold, as someone suggested on the Nov 19 release notes thread (which I stopped following when the know-it-alls got too annoying). One fallout from this gold inflation is if they ever do trinkets or gift cards again, how are they going to set a "price" so that people who haven't done BQs can afford anything? .

3 There are over 32,000 Bonus Questions with the topic "shopping mouse pads. " I am going to put together a really dynamite generic question that I can use on all 32,000! I am hoping to be the first level six in that topic on askville (I hope nobody snakes my idea).

Of course at the rate they are being asked, I'll probably have to answer more like 75,000, to get them all. If I get one gold coin for answering, and one for the default three, that's 150,000 quest gold, without having to even appeal one! If they'd loosen up the damn time limitations (hello?

Askville? Let us work! ), I could answer 750 a day without breaking a sweat.

I could finish them all some time next Spring.

Poppet! Replied to post #3: 4 Oh, Goldie...it's so not worth it! LOL!

But really, I would support eliminating the Bonus Question category--the topic isn't necessary. I suppose they could go back to allowing us to add topics again...until THAT feature is abused...It just seems that no matter what is done, there is a major downside....

The last time he ruled, it was raining cats, dogs, donkeys and pomposity on Askville for weeks. We were up to our eyeballs in pomposity and gasping for air, (air, NOT hair!) before the torrential hot wind stopped blowing. It brought forth angry mobs of tawdry burlesque dancers and saloon girls, to storm the streets of Askville.

That in turn created the need for a crowd of angry former students to bombard the site, threatening to take down the servers and paralyze the entire internet. All this was revealed in a letter bomb, sent to the donkey's Kindle, and traces of anthrax were found on the download!

2 That kind of stuff is better to be sold from your own Website. I don't think people would be searching Amazon to find your merchandise. But I think people would be using Google to find your Website and will want to buy from there.

Otherwise, you can click on the Help link at the top of any of Amazon's pages and sign up to be a retailer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
