I want my kids to understand the value of money, and not to have everything just handed to them. There are so many people in this world that can barely afford a thing, even in this country now. If they just expect that "everyone" has all these gadgets and toys, it will hamper their ability to understand and be kind to those people in a non-condescending way.So I never buy them everything they want, or even close.
I remember reading about 5 years ago that the median spent in this country is $75 per child, including stocking stuffers. I spend probably $200 per child, although less this year because of the economy. We don't do major things, like iPods or DS.
Those are things we encourage our kids to work for and earn themselves. They do, and they have so much self-confidence and ingenuity for it (they're not teens yet but they have managed to earn themselves an iPod and a digital camera so far). Yet they still have plenty of packages to open.
And we find them things in their interest areas that they may not have known about to ask for, besides the things on their wish lists. Plenty of books. Not too many "hottest" things.
We have two boys ( 3 and 5) and we probably spend around $350 on each of them. We typically ask them what they want and gauge it from there.
Too much! If differs each year depending upon how much money we have, and whether or not we received bonuses. This year we spent about $500 on our 15 year-old, and about $300 on our 3-year-old.
But I got a really nice bonus at work this year. We also have 7 nieces and nephews, and we spent an average of $30 for each of them. So it was a pretty expensive Christmas this year!
I spend $300 on gifts and $50 on stocking stuffers ( if it doesn't equal $50 I add the cash/ gift card). I have three children and it puts me right at $1050 for Christmas and that is easy to save at the rate of $100 a month beginning in January in Christmas fund. :) I spend the other $150.00 on the prime rib for dinner!
Woo Hoo.... But my children are older (19, 15 and 13) and understand that clothes are expensive and the price of everything on their list, and their "limit" my oldest in college now, poor thing he just wants "pizza" money. :).
I don't have child. I have young brother who is a teen boy. And I got christmas gift idea for him from Christmas Special Offer –How to Find the Perfect Christmas Gift which guides you What are good Christmas gift to get for the least amount of money for parents.
As little as possible...while still giving them a sense of caring.

Here is what I spend on the kids at christmas My daughter: $1000 ishBoys I babysit: the two older boys around $100 for both (the toys will be shared at my house) and about $100 for the baby (he has the least stuff as it is). I spent about the same for my husband that I did for my daughter. The problem with them is the stuff they want is expensive - a gameboy (hers is broken), a Storm Launcher, a Sing Star Kareoke game for PS2, gameboy games, PS2 games, etc., etc. so it adds up.
Sources: My knowledge .
It Depends! Some years we can spend a little more than others. It gets harder as they get older.
It seems like they want all the expensive things now.
$25. I'm sure if they were young to teens I'd have to spend a fortune, but seing they're adults, it's just a little something so they can buy that special shirt or something they'd been wanting. We love them dearly but we're on a fixed income.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
