I can't seem to find an HD tuner for cable, no TV. Any suggestions? My grandson supposedly bought himself a flat panel HDTV, without an integrated cable tuner.
He has digital cable with HD channels, so now he needs a tuner to receive them in HD, or so he says. I don't seem to be able to find and HD cable tuners. Asked by dfb 49 months ago Similar questions: find HD tuner cable TV suggestions Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

The cable box is the tuner If you have digital cable, you will use the digital cable box as the tuner for the tv. Some newer tvs will support CableCARD. This small card is the digital cable tuner and allows the tv itself to control the digital cable.
Usually, you must rent the CableCARD from your cable provider (just like a box). Sources: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CableCARD .
Digital cable already has a tuner If he has digital cable the cable company should have given him a big box that will decode the digital signals and turn them into signals that the TV can receive already. Most digital cable boxes also have a DVR or Digital Video Recorder function like a TiVo that can record TV. If he has one of those boxes (which he'd have to if he truly has digital cable), then he just needs to hook it up to the HDTV with an HDMI or Component cable and he should be good to go..
The cable company should provide. In our region, there are cable boxes specifically for HDTV (the tuner is in the cable box)they add about $5 to the bill each month. Call your cable company.
If for some reason the cable company option doesn't work out, there are set-top tuners available for sale. It is possible to receive HD broadcasts from an on air antenna ( but you would need to buy both the set-top box and an antenna). I was amazed at the quality of the on air picture - until it rained- The cable company really is the way to go!.
Check it out. By law, as of March 1, 2007, almost all televisions should include a built-in tuner (called HDTV, digital, or ATSC tuners) that can receive high-definition programs over the air by simply connecting an antenna. If your HDTV doesn’t have such a tuner, you’ll also need to connect an external tuner (or cable or satellite box) to watch high-definition programming.
External over-the-air HDTV tuners currently cost at least $150. Sources: cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5108580-3.html almerica's Recommendations Samsung DTBH260F HDTV Terrestrial Receiver Amazon List Price: $179.99 Used from: $154.95 .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
